I love sharing information and learning from others, and my favorite tutoring accomplishments are when my students not only understand the material better but enjoy learning the topic more from our time together. I started out as a tutor for several high school math students in subjects ranging from algebra to geometry to calculus during my time in college. When I went for my MBA, I began tutoring undergrads and graduate students in economics courses as well. I have helped several students prepare for standardized tests, midterms, and finals. Please reach out to see if I can help you with any assignments, homework, or upcoming tests!

Economics courses were some of the more challenging for me in school. The questions can be confusing, there are a LOT of formulas and graphs, and many professors are sadly not able to convey real-world examples of the theories in the classes. My own struggles as an economics student pushed me to find ways to understand and communicate the material effectively, and now over 90% of my Wyzant students have been for economics help! I greatly enjoy relating the concepts, formulas, and graphs to 'real world' items my students care about.

I am also one of those weird people who enjoyed and looked forward to exams in school. I received perfect 800 marks in SAT in 2 math subject tests, and I scored in the 94th percentile on my GMAT exam. My approach to testing is both strategic (trying to get in the head of the test writer) and tactical (time management, the process of elimination, etc.). Even big tests like the SAT don't need to cause anxiety when you know the material and know how you'll tackle the test day! Please see my subject list for any upcoming tests I can help you prepare for.

I am available for online tutoring in any of the subjects on my profile, and often am able to respond to requests within an hour. Please contact me to schedule your first lesson, I look forward to helping you succeed!

Elementary Math

I have a BS in Mathematics, and four years experience tutoring elementary through high school mathematics.

Homeschool

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I have always loved mathematics, particularly Algebra. In primary school, I scored high enough on my first algebra test to be placed in the advanced class and went on to major in math in college. I love explaining the formulas and equations in creative ways so students can understand and enjoy all that algebra can do!
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I first took Algebra 2 as a freshman in High School. I've loved the subject ever since my first algebra test in grade school. I passed two AP tests for Mathematics, and majored in math at college. During those four years I tutored six students in middle and high school math, helping with all subjects from geometry to pre-calculus.
Geometry,

Geometry

I have always loved mathematics but didn't initially like Geometry. I understand the frustrations of proofs but have learned how to show students the value of geometry not just as math but as a language of the space around us. I have helped middle and high school students enjoy geometry, and believe I can help you as well!

Simple Process

Charles was quick to respond to messages and set up a lesson. He came prepared having looked through our classwork and knew what he wanted to explain. Made the whole process simpler for someone beginning and not knowing exactly how Wyzant works.

Very helpful, patient, and had a flexible schedule

He really was patient, and was able to explain the material in a really digestible way. He even followed up before the exam to see if I had any last minute questions. He's a very knowledgeable teacher and was extremely helpful, definitely recommend!!

Amazing tutor

Working with Charles was an amazing experience! It took place online but he was very prompt and was able to go into detail for every question I had! He was very organized and patient which really improved our time together. I would definitely recommend him to anyone at my University!

Terrific Tutor

We hired Charles at the last minute for a final in Macroeconomics. My son scored higher on the final then he had scored on any test throughout the entire semester. Wish we would have hired Charles sooner.

Great economics tutor!

Charles is a very good economics tutor. I asked him if he is able to tutor engineering economics for me and he stepped up to the challenge. Using his economics background, he is able to answer many questions and provide step to step solutions, making sure I understand the concepts. There are some questions that he does not fully know, but st least he attempts them and admits he is not too sure of the answer, rather than BSing a made up answer/concept that would completely screw me over a test. Overall, great tutor!
