I’m Liya!
I love teaching and tutoring in Music. I graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Professional Music from the prestigious Berklee College of Music. I've been teaching voice lessons, music theory, ear training and sight singing since graduating and I absolutely love it. I have enjoyed every step of the process of getting to know my students and helping them further develop their voice, expand their range, gain confidence, build repertoire, learn how to sing...

I’m Liya!
I love teaching and tutoring in Music. I graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Professional Music from the prestigious Berklee College of Music. I've been teaching voice lessons, music theory, ear training and sight singing since graduating and I absolutely love it. I have enjoyed every step of the process of getting to know my students and helping them further develop their voice, expand their range, gain confidence, build repertoire, learn how to sing effortlessly, develop performance and stage skills and have helped many of my students prepare and go through auditions, competitions and apply to different choirs and schools.
In the beginning of each new relationship with a student, I access the level and struggles of each individual student and create a tailored approach to help them. When it comes to singing, I like to split the lesson in half, in the first half we work on exercises (breath, posture, vocal) and in the second half we apply everything to a song. I like to break down songs and exercises in order to help my students learn. When it comes to Music Theory and/or Ear Training, I like to work on the given problems, assignments, lessons and overall difficulties each student has. Again, I like to break down the information, repeat as many times as needed, and give multiple easy ways of learning Music Theory. My lessons are for any level, as I really provide a custom approach. I have experience with students of all ages, levels and backgrounds and also speak both English and Bulgarian fluently.

My singing/voice lesson rate is $100/hour and $75 for 45 minutes. I do encourage the full hour, as I like to really dig deep into vocal exercises before working on a song.
My music theory rate is $75/hour.
My refundable cancellation policy is with a notice at least 24 hours in advance.

I am fluent in Bulgarian, as I was born there and have lived there for the bigger part of my childhood. I studied in Bulgaria for both primary and high school, where I graduated with high honors in Bulgarian literature. Even though I find the language easy because it is my mother tongue, I understand that it is a very complex language. However, I believe that I can make studying Bulgarian fun and can teach my students to read, write and speak in all Bulgarian tenses.

I have studied music at Berklee College of Music, where I graduated Summa Cum Laude. Throughout my education, I have taken many levels of sight singing and ear training classes and have excelled in all of them. I have also taken and excelled in music theory and ear training classes at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. I enjoy ear training and sight reading and believe I can help train your ears!

As part of my musical education and songwriting abilities, I have learned to play the piano. I have taken piano lessons as a child, as well as at Berklee College of Music. I have music theory and solfege knowledge and can help students get their first steps into learning music theory, chord structures and scales and help them begin their keyboard studies.

I graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor in Professional Music from Berklee College Of Music. I have studied classical theory and counterpoint I’m both Berklee College Of Music and University of Massachusetts Boston. At UMass I received a classical background in voice and music theory and at Berklee a contemporary and classical background in multiple fields, such as performance, music theory, counterpoint, songwriting, music business, and more. I have always excelled in my music theory, counterpoint, sight singing and reading classes and would love to help you get better as well!

I graduated summa cum laude from Berklee College Of Music with a Bachelor in Professional Music, concentrating on Songwriting and Performance. Throughout my education at Berklee, I have taken advanced lyric and songwriting classes for multiple semesters, taught by world-famous songwriters. I have also attended songwriting industry trips in Nashville, where I have gotten the opportunity to receive masterclasses and lectures from award-winning songwriters and producers. As a songwriter and artist, I have released original music and have been part of multiple co-writes with other musicians and artists.

I have received classical vocal training from University of Massachusetts Boston for two years and a contemporary vocal training from Berklee College Of Music for three years. I graduated Berklee College Of Music summa cum laude with a Bachelor in Professional Music, with concentrates in Performance and Songwriting. During my studies at Berklee, I focused on learning as much about the voice as I could, by studying with world-famous vocal teachers who opened my eyes to different techniques, by attending multiple vocal masterclasses led by award-winning vocalist, as well as attending vocal health and wellness classes, such as Alexander Technique lessons. I am currently an active recording and performing artist, constantly expanding my knowledge about the voice.

Wonderful first lesson experience!

Liya is giving my 9 year old granddaughter vocal lessons and she is a excellent teacher. She is very knowledgeable but also very patient and encouraging. We look forward to many more lessons in the future!

Intervals

We went over the contents of the intervals, and she patiently broke down the contents into small pieces so that I may comprehend the contents easier, and she explained all the terms that I didn't understand. We did some practices at the end of the class and it went pretty well. Hope I could do better in the assignments!! The class was brilliant!!

So Knowledgeable and Kind!

Liya helped me so much with music theory! I am very picky with tutors because I often feel misunderstood when I try to explain what I want to learn but Liya was so understanding! She was extremely thorough when explaining a concept and didn’t move on until I had it figured out. She also gave very easy and helpful tricks to learn theory easier and was so kind and patient. I will definitely be meeting with Liya next time I am struggling to understand a concept in theory. 10/10 she’s amazing
