About Alejandro

Bio

I like to teach what people want to learn, but with a strong knowledge foundation of what we're doing or playing; regardless if is guitar, theory, composition, etc.
For me, music should be fun and enjoyable! That's why I always encouraged my students to be delighted in every note they play, even if is "just an exercise".

For me, music should be fun and enjoyable! That's why I always encouraged my students to be delighted in every note they play, even if is "just an exercise".

I've studied Classical, Contemporary and Jazz Guitar with different teachers at different schools and universities in Venezuela and USA. I also got a bachelor degree in Music Production and Commercial Composition at University of Miami, and a masters degree in Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television at University of Southern California.

I've always loved to teach music to my friends; that's why I started doing it professionally earlier in my musical career: in order to give back to the community what I gracefully received from God.

Composition (Music)

Composition (Music)

I've been composing for over 20 years now. I've done compositions for many different types and sizes of ensembles; all the way from solo instruments to full orchestra. Academically, I studied composition at Miami Dade College (where I won the 2nd place at the Jane Pyle's Composition Competition), University of Miami (where I studied Classical, Pop and Jazz Composition) and University of Southern California (where I did my Masters on Scoring for Film, TV and Video Games).

History

Music History

Music History

Besides the love for Music History, and the time I've invested on my own researching and understanding more about it; I took two semesters of it at Miami Dade College. I also had a couple of classes at University of Miami, including a whole semester studying Johannes Brahms' life and works. All of this is not including all the information and historic notes aside I received when taking classes like: Music Theory I, II, III and IV (MDC and UM); Composition I, II and III; 20th Century Composition, Orchestration I and II; Film Score History; Jazz Composition I and II; and many more.

Guitar,

Guitar

I've been playing guitar for over 25 years. I studied Classical guitar for two years at Conservatorio del Estado Aragua (Venezuela); and then later on for a year at Miami Dade College. I also studied Jazz guitar with renowned guitar teacher Franco Nasi (Berklee, MI); and then at University of Miami with luminary Jazz master Randall Dollahon. Besides my formal studies, I've been playing professionally for over two decades; literally touring all over the world with different artists. Playing many different genres, that goes from Salsa to Rock. As a teacher, I've been giving lessons for over 20 years now. From private students to larger groups in formal academies; ranging ages between 6 to 62.
