I really enjoy tutoring. I have been tutoring minimally part time since my employment career with Hughes Aircraft Company in Fullerton, CA back in the 80's. My degrees are in Digital Electronic Design, BSEE and Systems Engineering, MSEE. I graduated from Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute and Villanova University. I also spent some of my career at General Electric Space Systems Division in Valley Forge, PA.
My career involved a variety of engineering projects. A few of these were Communication Systems, Radar Systems, Ground Systems Test Equipment for Satellites, Simulation Systems and actually many more which involved digital logic design.
I love tutoring algebra because it is so useful for all of us every day. I also like to group teach such as the math portion of the SAT and the CBEST. I believe I have the skills to enlighten young students in the material at hand and the ability to make a tutoring session quite enjoyable.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I tutored for the CBEST for many years in the 80s when I had my own tutoring business that being Tutoring Excellence. My students usually excelled in the test and most importantly were not nervous and faced the test in a very calm state. I really enjoyed tutoring for the CBest because this was mostly done in a group setting and we had a great time learning about the subject matter especially the math portion. Many did go on to become teachers and I gave me real pleasure. At this point I would only like to tutor for the math portion of the CBEST hopefully in a group environment but also one on one.
I have been tutoring all levels of math for over 3 decades.
I am very familiar with linear algebra. I taught linear algebra to freshman students in college at my school Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in my junior and senior years. In my sophomore year I was a TA. That was when I was majoring in mathematics. In my junior and senior year I switched to digital electronic design engineering for my bachelors degree. I did personally encounter more linear algebra as I was studying for my systems engineering degree in grad school.
As an undergraduate student at RPI I took several courses in Logic and Argument excelling in all. I loved the material. In my Digital Electronic Design Engineering background I studied Boolean Algebra as well as Binary Logic in courses such as Fundamentals of Logic Design.
As an Engineer I applied all this knowledge in my Designing of Digital Electronic Circuitry.
Whether it be verbal application or electronic application I'm quite well versed and am an excellent candidate to teach you the subject matter.
Four years ago I tutored a group of 25 French foreign exchange students pre-algebra when they visited the US in the summertime. I was very successful even considering some language barriers.
It was a teaching joy and many of the students did exceptionally well. It was an abbreviated four-week summer course.
Good luck to you and your selection process but I really hope you consider me. Thank you.
In college I held the position of president vice president controller and education counselor for my fraternity. As education counselor one of my responsibilities was seeing to it that efficient study manners were carried out by the brothers. I met with the brothers on a weekly basis demonstrating my own personal study skills to show them how to increase their efficiency with studying and actually gain more time for other leisure activities. For the one year that I held that particular position we submitted our fraternities cumulative GPA and were recognized as raising the GPA of the fraternity the greatest percentage of any of the 26 fraternities on campus. My university was Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Calendarizing, storyboarding, study groups study time were some of the numerous technics I used in my fraternity
I also worked in the a math program and taught a great number of children how to study properly the material which they were given at Kumon
