Emory University (Environmental Science)
Hello! My name is Nick and I am an Emory University graduate with a degree in environmental science. Frankly, I love learning, and I spend most of my free time reading books. I believe the pursuit of knowledge to be the greatest pursuit in life and I hope to instill this mindset into each and every student that I mentor. My success is derived not only from teaching the material to students but from also sparking a genuine interest in the material. My greatest strength lies in my ability to garner enthusiasm in students while providing them with tangible real-world applications.
It is my goal to provide the most personalized tutoring experience for each of my students. Each student learns in unique ways. It is my responsibility to discern the learning qualities of each individual and to leverage these qualities to help students realize their full potential.
I am a tutor by profession with many years of experience under my belt. I specialize in SAT and ACT subjects, Common Core math, science, and political science and government.

Nick is a very patient and knowledgeable tutor. My daughter really likes his teaching style and feels comfortable working with him. He's currently helping her with AP Environmental Science. He stayed over his time to finish the lesson! He is an excellent and caring tutor. Look forward to his next visit.
Abraham was very pleased at the end of his lesson. He really liked Nicholas and said he wanted to meet with him again. The best part was that his homework was done and it was done neatly.
Nicholas was teaching me easier ways of doing percentage, LCD/LCM, and GCF. Great so far, I like his approach toward learning. To early to tell, just my lesson of many more to come with Nicholas. Thanks for not making me feel insecure.
Nicholas taught my writing skills. He was very patient & thorough in his teaching approach. My son learned a lot from him. We are looking forward to having him tutor my son again. Thanks.
Nick is teaching my 9yr old son great techniques to help him with difficult words. Nick is very patient & I know he can take my child to the next level in his reading and vocabulary. My son feels more confident in his reading and is more focused.
Nicholas is a very respectful young man who is very knowledgeable in tutoring the needs of the subjects of math and science that we are currently working on with him. He's on time, doesn't waste any time on nonsense, and covers the materials needed with efficiency and competency. His fees are very fair and reasonable.
Nicholas was so patient with my son and will be back again today.
I highly recommend him to any one with challenges at any level of math.
Nicholas is doing an excellent job. Skylar's grades in math have already improved. He is teaching her in a way that she is able to understand and when she asked questions he is able to answer them.
I am very greatful for his help with skylar.
Helped me in various topics. It was nice hearing his side to different topics to help me get a better understanding.
My 11 year old needed general support with all of his subjects, in particular math, writing, developing better study habits and preparing for tests. We've had two lessons with Nick, and already I see my son's confidence building. Nick explains things in a way my son understands, and my son has embraced his support. Nick is on time and has my son focusing for the full hour. Very pleased!
My daughter is a 7th grader in one of the best middle/high schools in California. She's pretty smart but she feels intimidated with the students in that school because she transferred in the middle of the school year. I hired Nick to tutor her on Algebra 1 after a disappointing 1st exam. My daughter likes Nick and said that he is patient with her and she understands his explanations. Her score on the second and third exams were both a huge increase from the first. Not bad at all but it has only been 4 sessions with Nick (I think) so there's a lot of room for improvement. I hope to give ongoing feedback about Nick as they progress through the school year.
My son had his 2nd tutoring session and I am very happy. He is really starting to understand math and actually likes his sessions with Nick. Knowing my son, that is saying a lot! My son had his first tutoring session with Nick M. yesterday, March 22, 2014 and I think we can call it a success!! My son gave Nick a great review so I KNOW that he is good.
Nick actually came to my house and was turned around by the gate security. Did Nick give up and write us off, NO WAY! Nick came back the following week and had a great math session with my 5th grade son. Nick was prompt and totally flexible. My son even said that he actually learned how to divide fractions in this session, which he didn't understand from school. So we have our next appointment next week and will focus more on the dreaded word problems. I cant wait because my son is getting the help that he needs from a good tutor.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
