About Graham

Hi, Everyone!

My name is Graham and I am a third-year student at Orange Coast College. I will be transferring to UC Berkeley next fall to study environmental engineering and mathematics. I have teaching experience in many different fields, including math and science, sports, and music. Specifically, I regularly tutor math, physics, and chemistry. I coach baseball, swimming and water polo, and I teach lessons for the piano, french horn, ukulele, guitar and voice. I have taught high school chemistry and tutored the aforementioned subjects at all levels. My own goals include, for example, earning an advanced degree in engineering and becoming a civil engineer to build sustainable public transportation systems in cities that don't yet have them. I also want to experiment with professional music performance and I eventually want to settle down to teach high school.

I have worked with children of all ages my whole life. One of the most rewarding parts of this work for me is to be called a good role model, a comment that consistently reaches me through teachers and parents. But the most important name that I have when I teach others is "friend." I learned during my own education that friends are better teachers than those that distance themselves from their students. That is why I am genuinely interested in my students. To me, nothing is more rewarding than watching my friends grow with the help of my guidance. I hope to help more of my friends soon!

I look forward to hearing from you!
Thank you, and take care.
Graham

I have graduate-level math experience and have taught many college-level students subjects as advanced as linear algebra. I have tutored students of many ages in subjects ranging from pre-algebra with fifth-grade students to college-level calculus.

I taught a high school chemistry class while still in high school and learned invaluable teaching skills from that experience. The talents of the students themselves varied widely and I had to work with all of them. I have taken high-level college chemistry classes and am well-versed in the subject.

Music has been the one constant throughout my life. I have been immersed in it since birth, as my mother is a professional musician. As such, I play upwards of seven instruments and have taught lessons in all of them, most prominently with the french horn and the piano, as those are the instruments that I know best. I have performed countless times all over the world, from Chicago's Symphony Center to the Sydney Opera House. I love music more than anything and love to spread its beauty through my work with students.

Hey, everyone!

I know that's a lot to absorb, and I know it's difficult to draw much about me from a simple profile, but shoot me a message explaining anything you want from me and I'll get back to you as soon as I am able.

Thank you so much!

Graham
