I have been a math tutor for over 8 years now and have had the privilege of working with students from elementary all the way through college. I have had a great deal of success helping my students prepare for quizzes, tests, finals, the ACT, CASEE (high school exit exam), SAT, and even the GMAT. Most of my previous students were recommended from word-of-mouth, and I worked with some of them all the way through high school into college.
In my teaching style I use many examples and always encourage my students to ask questions and do multiple problems until they feel comfortable. I also try to relate my examples to things that they can relate to. I also try to keep things interesting by playing made up math games during test preparation like "Who wants to be a millionaire?" where a student has to answer progressively harder multiple choice questions in order to win. Basically I do my best to make what can be a tough subject into a much less stressful experience. The better you understand math, the less scary it becomes.
I received an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts at Long Beach City College, and am currently working on a Bachelor's Degree in computer science at Cal State University, Los Angeles. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions and I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks you for considering me. I love my students and will always do my best to make sure that they succeed. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
