I'm Lynn! I have a degree in Economics from UCLA and a Master's in Christian Education from Biola University. I have been teaching high school social studies courses for 14 years for Biola Youth Academics, a college-prep supplemental program for homeschooled students. In addition, I tutored General Literature one on one for a full school year. In tutoring, I expect to assist students with understanding the subject material and meeting or exceeding the requirements for the course. I seek to help students think deeply and critically in the given subject area.
While my specialty has been American Government and Economics, I have also taught Geography, American History, and American Literature. My teaching has been both on campus and online, so I understand the unique challenges of online courses. I love to help students succeed in their courses and to discover how they can use these subjects in everyday life, especially in the areas of government and economics as students become adults and move into the "real" world. I really enjoy helping students see the synergy between different subjects, such as American History and American Government, or between government and economics.
I taught high school literature for several years with emphasis in composition, vocabulary, and grammar. I have always been a stickler for good grammar and writing, even in teaching subjects other than English.
Government and Economics are the subjects that I have taught for the longest, including doing curriculum development for the program I teach in. I also taught American History for several years, taking advantage of the synergy between that and American government and economics.
