My passion is to help you meet your educational goals in Spanish, ESL, and K-12 Math. I am currently a Spanish major at National University and my life practically revolves around being bilingual. Spanish isn't my only strength, though, since I am also a lifelong learner and lover of math.
For a year and a half I worked as an after school teacher for third and fourth graders. It was fun and rewarding, but now I am looking to branch out to helping other grades in math and focus more on tutoring Spanish. This experience made me very familiar with Common Core math and math tutoring strategies. For 2 summers I also taught high school Spanish afterschool classes, so I know I have what it takes to make your Spanish learning fun and productive. I thrive on seeing my students begin to love learning!

Whether your elementary student's Common Core Math has you scratching your head or Algebra is making you cry, I want to teach you to enjoy math and succeed in it. I have 1 and 1/2 years of experience in Common Core Elementary math tutoring along with experience tutoring PreAlgebra through PreCalculus from when I was a 4.0 Honors student. I'm ready to help you not just improve your math grades, but be able to truly understand and appreciate math!

English can be a difficult language to learn, but I can help you improve in confidence and fluency. I have experience helping elementary ESL students learn basic concepts like phonics and grow their English vocabulary from working at a Korean Afterschool program. I am also bilingual in Spanish and able to help you improve your English, whether that means having speaking fluency or perfecting your grammar.

Me encanta estudiar espaƱol! I love studying Spanish! My enthusiasm for the Spanish language will surely rub off on you as I help you improve your skills in the language. I have studied Spanish for over 8 years and whether you are a student needing to improve your grade or someone wanting become more fluent, I can help you. Reading or writing, tricky grammar rules or becoming conversationally fluent, si podemos, we can do it!

I am here to help you. Please contact me so we can schedule a tutoring session soon!

ESL/ESOL,

ESL/ESOL

I started teaching ESL this past year specifically to people whose first language is Spanish. I specialize in blending conversation and grammar in a way that highlights and explains the key differences in English and Spanish. I have a complete curriculum available that is customizable to you.
Grammar,

Grammar

English can be complicated and has so many rules, but I have learned to love and dominate it! I received AP scores of 4 on both AP English tests in 2015, worked as a yearbook editor for 3 years, and have been refining my English in college. Grammar can be simple or complicated depending on your grade level, but I can help you understand parts of speech, when to use commas, sentence structure, and more!

I am currently working on my Bachelors in Spanish from National University. I have studied Spanish as a second language for over 9 years, both academically, in my community, and Latin America. Me encanta!

Most recently I worked in an afterschool program for 2 years where I helped elementary students with math assignments and gave math lessons during the summer.
Elementary Science,

Elementary Science

I have always loved science and helping students with it. The 2 most fun summers of my life were working at an afterschool and planning science lessons and experiments every day. I also went to high levels of science while in school and understand it well.

I also taught English daily as a 3rd and 4th grade afterschool teacher for 2 years. It can be difficult sometimes to develop true reading skills like being able to analyze, synthesize information, and make conclusions from the text, but they are crucial to learning and I have tips to help you!

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I have always loved math and passed with high grades in school. Now I volunteer weekly with my church to tutor teens in math in addition to tutoring through Wyzant. I have always found helpful ways to "translate" math into plain English so that math strategies stick in the brains of students.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I have always loved math and passed with high grades in school. Now I volunteer weekly with my church to tutor teens in math in addition to tutoring through Wyzant. Algebra 2 can have tricky topics, like logs, radicals, and it feels so many rules, but I can help you to not stress by understanding and internalizing the concepts!

Prealgebra

I have always loved math and passed with high grades in school. Now I volunteer weekly with my church to tutor teens in math in addition to tutoring through Wyzant. Prealgebra is such an important base for later math so I have strategies to get a solid foundation with polynomials and solving algebraic equations quickly!
Precalculus,

Precalculus

I have always loved math and passed with high grades in school. I received a 3 on the AP Calculus AB test in 2015 and have fond memories of finally "getting math" during that class. I have fun with math and can help explain both the algebra and trigonometry parts included in Precalculus.

Friendly and Personable Tutor

Elizabeth has been doing an excellent job of working with our son. She knows exactly how to correct him without embarrassing him, as some teenagers can be so insecure at this stage. :) We are very pleased with her!

Relates well with high schoolers

My daughter has only had one session with Elizabeth , but told me that she is comfortable with her and she was very helpful! We have had other tutors to compare her to, so I'm really happy with her so far :)
