Cal State Fullertom (Kinesiology)
Hello! My name is Sarah and I am currently an undergraduate Kinesiology major at Cal State Fullerton. I have a love for working with kids and watching them grow in their academic success! With my creative ideas, I will do my very best to help find efficient and fun ways to help your child learn! I understand that every child has a different way of learning , so I will plan my tutoring according to his/her style. I often use silly voices, songs, and games in order to keep the student engaged. I am also a strong believer in rewards for hard work. With parents permission, treats and small prizes will be rewarded as your child shows progress and effort!
I previously tutored a student for two years back at home. By the end of each school year, every grade went up a full letter and he passed all of his classes. I was so proud of the hard work and effort he put into our tutoring sessions together. Throughout my highschool career, I volunteered as the five year old classroom lead instructor at my church. I have also babysat multiple times and have experience with children of all ages. I am looking forward to hopefully being a helping hand for you and your child!
This is often where silly voices come in handy. Previously, to teach a child 7x7=49, I would sing it in a funny way and have the student repeat it back to me several times (in the silly voice of course). It worked! Adding a little fun into the lessons really help young children grasp concepts. Repetition and use of flash cards are also very helpful.
When it comes to reading, vocabulary, and writing, practice makes perfect. I have the patience to work with your child as often as possible in order for them to understand what is being taught.
Practice makes perfect in this aspect as well. I will bring practice worksheets to help improve in this area.
I currently do not have a car on campus. Rides will need to be arranged. If you have any further questions, comments, or concerns regarding my information, please feel free to message me. Hello! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
