I have a bachelor's degree in trumpet playing. I am currently teaching General music to students from grades 4-6. I have covered the simple topics of being to identify the notes on the staff as well as basic rhythms and time signatures. I have been very successful at teaching kids how to read both treble and bass clefs.
While attaining my bachelor's degree in trumpet playing from California State University Long Beach, I had to complete 4 separate music history classes that span the entire history of western music. From the earliest medieval/ Renaissance plainsongs and motets, to modern 12 tone serial music.
I took 2 years of music theory at CSULB. I also studied music history that corresponded to the theory I was learning. I am also a music teacher at an after school music program where I teaching theory and Brass playing to 4-6 graders.
I sing in two international championship barbershop choruses and the 2013 International Collegiate Champion Quartet. With these groups I have had to, at many times, pick up a piece of music and be able to sing it as perfectly as possible.
I have been playing the trumpet for 12 years. I have played in multiple orchestras and small chamber groups. I have studied with trumpet players who are frequent performers of the LA Philharmonic and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra.
