Hello there! I’m Suzanne. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy and a Master’s degree in Teaching. I earned both of these from the University of Southern California. While I was there, I worked as a math tutor for a non-profit organization that helps students from nearby schools to earn scholarships to attend USC and other prestigious colleges around the country and the world. These students come on campus every morning before school for their math and English classes and on Saturdays starting in the sixth grade until high school graduation. Working as a tutor made me realize how much I love working with students one-on-one and helping them learn math concepts by catering to their learning needs to make sure they don’t fall behind. I try to help students see how math is involved in everyday life and how it affects their life. My teaching approach to math includes explicit instructions, guided practice, and independent learning. This approach has proven successful in the years I’ve been a tutor. In addition, I like going the extra mile for my students just to make sure they’re on the right path to learning. Most importantly, I like to get to know my students on a personal level which helps me create lesson plans catered to the individual student rather than a classroom. Getting to know my students helps make math less dreadful and more fun to learn.

During my time as a tutor at USC, I help students in various math subjects ranging from general math to trigonometry. After I earned my Master’s degree in Teaching and my teaching credential, I spent a year as a substitute teacher teaching middle school math teaching four classes a day. After that year, I decided to become a private tutor. My students range from elementary school students to high school students. I love teaching all math subjects, but my favorites are Algebra, Algebra 2, and Trigonometry. I love showing students math shortcuts. With the pandemic going on, I have been teaching my students online which took some time to getting used to, but now I

Precalculus

I have over 10 years of teaching math, especially high school level math. I truly enjoy being a tutor because it lets me show my students different ways tackle math problems so that they can understand them. I also teach through a step-by-step method so that my students can see how to precisely do a problem. Pre-calculus can be tough, but with the right tutor it could be fun!
