“**Friendly, fun and engaging!**”

I am in my third year at Sterling College, and I am studying to become a math teacher. Between ninth and twelfth grades, I spent a lot of time in my dad's 4th-grade classroom, helping him grade assignments and answer student questions in math and other subjects. I always loved it when they were willing to ask for help because I could take a

Met Jenna for the first time yesterday and she assessed my 6th grader for reading comprehension and my 8th grader for math. Both kids really enjoyed working with Jenna. We look forward to working with her more in the upcoming weeks.

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have tutored students in algebra in the past (Algebra 2 and more basic algebra), and use a mix of visual and verbal explanations and demonstrations to teach.

As part of my college requirements, this last semester I spent multiple hours tutoring students in basic algebra. For about an hour per week over the course of a year, I also tutored a high school student in Algebra 2, with noticeably improved test scores and understanding.

In high school, I scored a 5 on the A.P. Calculus test and often answered questions from my classmates. I have taken calculus classes in college through Calculus 3, and have spent many hours tutoring a student in calculus at the college level.

Throughout my high school career, I spent multiple hours in my dad's classroom helping his fourth graders with math, although I am comfortable tutoring math for all elementary. For about an hour everyday over the course of a year, I tutored a student who was on a second-grade level, many days with her math.

I have completed an Introduction to Advanced Mathematics college course, the entirety of which dealt with mathematical logic and proving mathematical theorems and statements. On multiple occasions, I assisted a fellow student in the course, explaining concepts she had difficulty grasping. I tutor in a very step-by-step manner with lots of visual explanations, which can be extremely helpful in helping students who do not understand mathematical logic.

A good part of my tutoring experience in precalculus has been with students in basic college math classes, but I have a good understanding of high school precalculus and a good foundation in algebra.

During my freshman and senior years, I spent about an hour everyday working with kids in my dad's fourth grade class who needed help with their reading, first with a fourth grader student who was just having difficulty with her reading and needed some one-on-one confidence building and lastly with a fourth grader who operated on more of a second grade level because of some brain damage that led to learning disabilities and needed someone to work toward bringing her closer to grade level.

Throughout my college career, I have spent multiple hours tutoring statistics students in their college-level classes. I have taken courses in Elementary Statistics and Probability Theory and have helped students in both courses.
