About Shauna

(BS in English/MEd in Literacy) I have worked as a substitute teacher for the 5th largest school district in the nation since 2013. I just finished teaching 1st grade before moving to Fresno. I have tutored for 15 years, including college and adult-aged students. I have taught/tutored in Utah, Nevada and now California. I am familiar with Common Core and canonized texts.
I have great successes! In fact, one 12th grader I had a few months ago needed to pass her graduation/proficiency exam in order to graduate and had 3 chances to score at least 300. She failed the first 2 times (scoring 170 and 185) and then hired me. We only met for 8 hours and she scored a 350!
I also helped a third grader catch up a grade and a half that she was behind in reading and phonics in 6 months time.
I definitely think outside the box can create homework geared specifically for you.
My Bachelor and Master's degrees are both English and Education-related. I have special skills in adolescent literacy, phonics, and reading comprehension as well as writing.
I am excited to help you reach your goals and show you just how smart you are!
Please do not hesitate to contact me anytime.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
