About Jarrod

I'm currently a computer engineering major at Clovis Community College. I also work there as a tutor for the school. I tutor Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, Calculus, Precalculus, Chemistry, Physics and Computer Science. Because I plan on teaching in the future, it is very important to me that the people I tutor understand what I'm trying to teach them. I don't mind explaining something in a different way, as long as we all can learn something!

Learning to me is one of the most fun things we can do. That's one big reason I really love tutoring. By explaining a subject to someone, I get to see it in a new light I hadn't seen it before.

I can explain the material very well so that its much more easy to understand. I also try to make the people I'm tutoring laugh, because it they can laugh it will make it infinitely more fun and much easier to learn.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

C++

I have taken 4 semesters of C++ programming and have tutored C++ for three years. I generally teach by drawing the concepts and making a visual representation of the code, that way, they can actually see what's going on. This method helped one of my students go from not passing the class half-way through the semester, to a B by the end.

Calculus

I've been tutoring Physics for 2 year at Clovis Community College and I've worked in the Physics Lab there as a tutor as well, with the recommendation of my physics professor, Dr. Anthony Abbott. I've also received "A's" in all three semesters of calculus-based physics as well as all three semesters of calculus.

Physics

I have been tutoring Physics for 2 years at the Tutoring Center at Clovis Community College. In addition I work as Lab Assistant and Tutor in the Physics lab at Clovis Community College. During tutoring sessions I help students by explaining how problems work conceptually, then I help them do their work. I also make sure that they are the ones doing the work, so they can get the most out of the learning experience as well as get their homework done.

Very knowledgeable tutor with excellent teaching skills

Jarrod is teaching me math analysis 3, working with vector functions and functions in 3D. He is able to teach me in a way where I not only know the process but develop a general understanding of the material. 5/5 stars hands down
