About Anjali

I graduated from UCSD before receiving my J.D. in Criminal Law from UC Davis King Hall. I still practice and am currently a Public Defender. That said, I have full availability for summer sessions for you/your child to get ahead for the upcoming school year!

As a lawyer and educator, I have always been intensely passionate about helping students thrive as learners while becoming aware of their unique strengths, aspirations, and intellectual curiosities to positively impact the world.

While at UCSD, I was selected to be a Teaching Assistant for the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry. Since my days as an undergrad, I have continued to work as a tutor in underprivileged areas. I believe part of my job as a tutor is to focus not only on high school and college academia, but to also help a student explore their passions and what they wish to get out of their college.

Through my unique and holistic approach to chemistry and law, I have helped innumerable high school and college students improve their SAT 2 Chemistry scores, AP Chemistry scores, and grades in high school Chemistry. I consistently scored in the 99th percentile in all Chemistry standardized tests including the SAT 2 and AP Chemistry. I have mastered the art of imparting my test-taking skills to my students. With just four sessions of tutoring, each of my students has improved their grades at least 10%.

I love to see my students meet their goals and believe that learning is not just about grades. Learning is a life-long process and must be exciting and tailored to each individual's learning style. As an educator, I believe it is extremely important to focus not only on getting in to college, but to also explore what a student wishes to get out of college and how they wish to change the world. Being a tutor lets me inspire other people to find the best within themselves.

If you live outside my travel radius, still, please contact me! I tutor students farther away, should our schedule permit, for a higher hourly rate. I also have worked rather extensively with many students online-- from Texas to Boston to Canada and even India!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bar Exam

The California Bar Exam is one of the hardest, if not thee hardest in the country. The CA Bar is not just a test of knowledge, it's also a test of strategy and skills. When I took the CA bar in July 2014 and passed, only 48.6% of Californians passed. In July 2015, the pass rate was even lower. The ABA is making the tests more difficult to reduce the number of lawyers in CA. I took Barbri for my prep course. I have a very recent and in-depth understanding of the time a J.D. needs to invest to pass, the prep needed to succeed, and strategies to pass this very difficult test.

College Counseling

After I finished my high school, I joined the UCSD college guidance program that worked interested college students. I helped them form their high school plans, the standardized test, and the necessary pre-reqs for the college they wanted admittance to. In total I have provided college guidance for over 200 students.

Law

I applied for law school in the fall of 2010 and graduated from UC Davis in 2014. I took over 20 classes and understand the strategies to succeed at the highest level in an intense and stressful environment. I charge $400 for a two-hour session for law schools applicants to finesse their applications for law school. I also offer sessions for current law students in any of their classes. Please contact me about my unlimited tutoring package for law students.

Organic Chemistry

I have over 10 years of experience as a General Chemistry & Organic Chemistry teaching assistant. At UCSD, I took seven courses in organic chemistry: four lectures and three labs. I received two A-'s and five A's.

Political Science

At UCSD I minored in political science. I took over seven classes and got A's in every class. The classes were taught by PH.D political scientists as well as lawyers. I also helped political science tutors while I was in law school.

Public Speaking

The spoken word has immense power to effect social and political change. I fell in love with public speaking when I heard Luther King Jr.'s "I have a Dream" speech in 7th grade. My first foray into public speaking was at UCSD. I was an active member of the mock trial team for two years and played the role of an attorney in mock criminal cases. My passion for public speaking intensified in law school - I was a member of the UC Davis Mock Trial & Moot Court teams. I saw first hand the real power of advocacy by passionate speakers as a prosecutor for the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office and now as a Criminal Defense attorney for the Office of the Public Defender in San Francisco County.

SAT Math

I have over 10 years of experience as an SAT Math & English Specialist. I have coached students to perfect scores on both the SAT Math and English sections. I find that by building a foundation of basic math skills, grammar knowledge and reading comprehension skills, students can begin to crack the code of the SAT.

Writing

The spoken word has immense power to effect social and political change. I fell in love with writing when I read Luther King Jr.'s "Letter from Birmingham Jail" in US History in 11th Grade. I saw first hand the real power of written advocacy by passionate lawyers at the UC Davis King Hall School of Law to change criminal justice, environmental change, and civil rights laws. Everyday I fight as a Criminal Defense attorney for the Office of the Public Defender in San Francisco County to uphold this Country's Constitutional Rights.

Our family has had the pleasure of knowing Anjali for almost a year now, during which time she has done an amazing job tutoring my Freshman daughter in Advanced math. My daughter had done very well in middle school math classes, but struggled with Algebra. We saw an immediate improvement in my daughter's grades. Anjali had identified her areas for improvement early on and came up with a tailored p
