About Richard

The Approach: I will implement effective tutoring that begins with an outside vantage-point view of the mathematical field in its entirety, followed by a journey into the more specific concepts within a given branch (such as Probability & Statistics, Graph Theory, Calculus, Euclidean Geometry, etc.). I will teach the "Four-Square-Corners" Aspect View of Math and provide students with convincing reasons we need math.

The Experience: I worked with 4 children with their Algebra I & II courses, individually and separately at their homes in 1994 for Roosevelt High for a teacher there.

The Educational Background: I received an A-grade in high-school geometry class (1982), and also took the helm of the course during a couple of days a substitute teacher was appointed. I went on to study to earn an AA degree in Mathematics, and I also went on to study Pre-College Teaching Mathematics at Fresno State University from fall 1988 to the spring of 1991.

The subjects I'm interested in tutoring include Algebras I & II and Pre-Calculus.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
