I received my B.S. and M.S. both in biology. My specialization includes different biology courses at the High school level such as AP biology, anatomy, developmental biology, ecology, physiology and mycology. I have guided middle school and high school students and helped them with science projects. My belief is that learning and experimentation is fun, and finding out what you can do with your knowledge is even more fun. Additionally, I am fluent in spoken Punjabi and Urdu/ Hindi, so I would be happy to tutor foreign language as well.
I went to Govt College University, in Lahore, Pakistan, where I earned a master of science degree in Botany in 1996. Ecology and Taxonomic surveys have been my passion since college, where I conducted field research on algal blooms of Lahore Distt where they have filled a niche. This work, as well as taxonomic mapping led to my postgraduate thesis.
I have a passion for teaching that I hope will transfer to all of you. I take a lot of pride in seeing my students do well; I won't accept a tutoring job if I don't think I am able to be of help.

Biology is natural science concerned with study of life and living organisms, including their structure, function, growth, origin, evolution, distribution, and taxonomy. The foundation of biology as it exists today is based on five principles. They are the cell theory, gene theory, evolution, homeostasis, and laws of thermodynamics. The field of biology is very broad in scope and can be divided into several disciplines. In the most general sense, these disciplines are categorized based on the type of organism studied. For example, zoology deals with animals studies, botany deals with plant studies, and microbiology is the study of microorganisms. These fields of study can be broken down further into specialized sub-disciplines. Some of which include anatomy, cell biology, genetics, and physiology.
I have my MS in this subject with an extensive experience of tutoring and teaching. Botany is the study of plants, and we need plants to survive.
Botany courses come under the heading of plant science but they are both the study of plants and cover similar areas.
There are five scientific concepts that elementary school children should learn and understand:
1: ORGANIZATION: They can learn this concept by collecting and sorting things according to their characteristics, e.g. Rocks, Leaves and Flowers.
2: CAUSE & EFFECT: Things happen for a reason. For example, plant growth: The grass grows because there is water and light.
3: MODEL: It's a description of a thing. When we draw a picture or make a clay model of a tree & show how it relates to a real tree.
4: CHANGE: The natural world constantly changes. For example, changes in water (freezing, melting, evaporating &boiling) relate to the water cycle on our planet.
5: DIVERSITY: This is the most obvious characteristic of the natural world. When we study a pond, we learn that different organisms feed on different things.
In my opinion, a tutor must demonstrate the following reading skills objectives:
1:Able to identify the purpose & value of improving reading skills.
2:Able to identify & define the major components of reading instructions.
3:Able to apply strategies to improve reading skills.
4:Able to transfer knowledge learned about reading development into his or her student.
5:Able to monitor, review and assess student's progress in reading skills.
Tutoring in reading skills should make the students able to:
*Outline the processes involved in building phonics,vocabulary, reading fluency, and reading comprehension.
*Demonstrate mastery of lessons content at levels of 80% or higher.
*Utilize the phonemic and phonological awareness.
