Tomsk polytechnic institute (Master's)
I graduated the Tomsk Polytechnic University in Russia with a Masters Degree in Chemistry. Few years later I graduated post-grad school, also in the subject of chemistry, and received training in teaching. My work experience includes working as a chemical research engineer and later as an industrial chemical engineer in petrochemical production. In the year 2000 my family came to the US where I began working as a science instructor in a private school's summer camp. In 2010 I graduated from a pharmacy technician program and got my certified pharmacy technician license. Other than excellent knowledge of chemistry, I possess personal skills such as: reliability, flexibility, maintaining good student/teacher relationship, good communication skills, bilingualism (Fluent Russian). My job as a chemistry tutor lays in the hopes of helping my students acquire and excel in the knowledge they seek.

Alena is an amazing tutor! I needed help with chemistry to be ready for the new semester so we went over a lot of material, that really helped me when I began my classes. She went step by step with me on everything that I had trouble with. She taught me to understand what I am doing, not just to memorize like most teachers do. She went above what a regular tutor does, she doesn't just sit and go over homework, Alena really helps with the problems, and gives you tricks to help you understand. I don't dread coming to our session's because I know I will get something out of it and learn and actually understand what I am doing which is most important. It's important because when I am in class, I am able to participate and am not afraid to answer questions because I am confident in the material that was taught to me by Alena. The previous reviewer Julian had said, "Alena's accent made it a little difficult to understand the material," this is completely untrue. You can completely and absolutely understand the material and the way she teaches it. Overall, with Alena's help I was confident going into my first test of the semester. If any student needs help with chemistry, I can tell you from experience that Alena T. is the best chemistry tutor I could have.
My daughter and I are very happy with Alena. She is very knowledgeable, professional and responsive. She could work around our very busy schedule. With Alena's help we can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Thank you, Alena!
Alena was prompt and very professional, was thorough in the tutoring. Alena responded promptly be e-mail and phone and was very well prepared by getting the information about what material my son needed to cover, the textbook he was using and school he was attending. According to my son Alena was helpful, however Alena's accent made it a little difficult to understand the material.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a major in Chemistry and a minor in Organic Chemistry. During the pursuit of my minor in organic chemistry I have completed lecture and laboratory. I then graduated with honors and had plenty of experience working in this area as well as previously tutoring it before.
