California State University, Long Beach (Animation)
Hello there! My name is Xochitl T. and I am a senior at California State University of Long beach. I am extremely passionate about animation and storytelling and I have had the wonderful experience of taking many art classes during my academic career. I am skilled in many mediums including graphite, charcoal, watercolors, and oils. Additionally, I am very well versed in Photoshop as I have been using the software for about ten years. My versatility in skills has given me the opportunity to mentor and aid friends and family with their artwork by allowing them to try different techniques. I believe that experimentation and trial and error are vital aspects of learning and growing. I would not be where I am today had I not made a few mistakes along the way. I believe that my knowledge and skills have led me towards a path of success and I will be interning with Pixar this summer.
The animation industry is difficult to break through. However, I believe that with the right attitude and mentors, an artist can truly grow and blossom. I say this confidently because I have had experience of teaching after school programs at Whittier Unified school district. I worked with two other leaders and we coordinated after school lesson plans. I was in charge of creating the final group of the year in which I encouraged children to experiment new techniques using common art supplies. The lesson plan was a success and it was a truly rewarding experience to know that I made a difference the minds of others. For these reasons, I believe that I can be an excellent tutor who can guide an individual towards the path to success. Hello there!
