I believe patience, and persistence are key to understanding a subject, and I will therefore be very patient with you. I break the subject down into small pieces that are easy to grasp, and cater to your preferred learning style. I learned more from Alice in a couple hours than I have in half a semester at a college level course. She was extremely patient, clear, concise, knowledgeable, and thorough! Proficient, exceptional, incredibly skilled and great at sharing ideas, learning tools, and resources! I will be seeing her again!!! I would highly recommend her as a tutor, SHE WAS AMAZING!!!
Before session I sent Alice a list of questions I wished to cover in our hour. She was ready, even had questions printed out. About half way through session I realized this was a mistake on 'my part'. Alice is very smart with a quick mind. She teaches college students. My questions implied I was ready for that level of instruction. It didn't help that my level of fluency suggested I was not at a kindergarten level when it came to using Word 2007. Alice is too nice to be patronizing. In truth, I am probably at a pre-school level. I soon realized I was in over my head. I acted as if I knew what she was talking about. After she left I realized I had mislead her about what I wanted to learn. An analogy would be asking a skilled mechanic to explain the ignition system on your car when in reality you only wanted to learn where to put the key and which way to turn it.
I think I'm going to try Alice again but this time I'll make it clear I'm a pre-schooler, have no interest in becoming more than that, and when she leaves I want her to leave me a written 'cheat-sheet' which tells me in the most basic way what steps I must follow.
Alice tutored me in Illustrator and in a short time showed me more than I could imagine and made sure I was competent before she left. I highly recommend Alice!
Alice is very knowledgeable on Photoshop elements. She explains clearly and patiently, even for a technologically challenged person like me. She has a pleasant demeanor that makes the tutoring session go quickly.
Alice has helped me so much with Adobe Illustrator and putting together my Real Estate Newsletter, and making brochures and flyers. She has been very patient when I am under a deadline and knowledgeable. I will continue to use her training every month and am progressing in my ability on Adobe Illustrator. I plan on having her help me soon with learning Adobe InDesign.
I met with Alice and showed her my Imovie video for one of my projects and asked her some questions about how to improve the one I have. She gave me valuable tips and suggestions and also pointed out some of the mistakes I had and taught me how to correct them. She was super kind and professional and what I liked the most about her is that she asked me about all the details for my project prior the session so she would be prepared and I learned more and also saved time and money.
I am very impressed with my tutor, Alice. My grandson never had a drawing lesson. He following her instructions to the letter and drew a picture of our dog. It was beautiful. His father who took many lesson in art thought is was very good work. We will have her for many more lessons.
Overall, I learned a lot from Alice. She brought some ideas and insight to my project that will make it look a lot more engaging and appealing. She also has extensive knowledge in other multimedia platforms other than Final Cut Pro X. I would definitely be interested in consulting with her again.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I teach Adobe Flash as part of the Digital Media and Dreamweaver classes that I teach at the college level, and have taught Flash at the high school level as well. I use it at home for my own video and web projects. It's a lot of fun!
I have been using InDesign since it's first beta version, and even before when it was called PageMaker. I've been using it for more than 24 years! I work as a graphic designer as well as a teacher, and InDesign is a very valuable software tool for the flyers, brochures, ads, and catalogs that I have to make for work. You can even include hyperlinks, and do a little web page design in InDesign, and design for mobile devices in InDesign, which I have shown all my students how to do. I really enjoy using InDesign, it makes layout and design for print and web so easy to do, and you get very quick results!
