I have been fortunate enough to have taught lower elementary math, pre-algebra and algebra 1 on the high school level for close to ten years. I am a retired teacher/administrator looking to help students through the aforementioned classes. I feel that all students can grasp the concepts if properly taught and enough patience is administered. I have had great success in getting students to understand when they thought they thought they could not, and have managed to never have a student fail a test to move on. I have tutored students in the past and have enjoyed it thoroughly.

Mike is an excellent tutor. I didn't really know what to expect with Mike. My son is a very quiet child when he's around people he doesn't know. After the first tutoring session I asked my son if he liked Mike, he said yes with no hesitation and inquired when his next tutoring session would be. Mike has always arrived on time for his sessions, Mike is very patient, very encouraging and knowledgeable. I'm very satisfied with the services he provides to my son. If you are looking for a math tutor for your child I highly recommend Mike C.
Mike is fantastic. Contacted me right away, followed up and confirmed appt., showed up on time, and my son loved him. Mike really knows his stuff. Has a lot of experience and it shows. Very good tutor and absolutely would recommend him!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I cover all subject areas of Algebra 1. These include solving 1st degree equations and the consistent steps involved, graphing using slope/intercept form, solving quadratics by factoring and using the quadratic formula and graphing them, solving systems of equations and graphing, solving inequalities and systems of inequalities and graphing, and reviewing fractions, decimals, multiplication facts and insuring the student has the proper skill sets and that he or she is ready for the next course.
As a math teacher, I had to deal with elementary math from basic number understanding, concepts, basic adding, subtraction, multiplication and division. I had the opportunity to create lessons for students with very low skills and was successful in getting students to gain an understanding of concepts so they could get ahead.
I played the game for almost 20 years and umpired ASA Softball for 29 years. I am familiar with all aspects of the game. I coached for 10 years. I also had the opportunity to play and umpire in several national tournaments.
