I have taught the last eleven years in grades 4th through 8th as a certified teacher for the state of California. I’ve instructed Title One, Gate and English Language Learners over my years of teaching. I’ve been taught to use GLAD, which is using pictorials and vocabulary to help students learn. I have tutored students after school and over the summer as a certified teacher. I believe that learning must be fun and when I tutor I create flash cards to drill facts and have students draw and color pictorials with vocabulary. M and M’s work well with younger students as a reward for learning information. I’m patient with students and try to make them feel comfortable with praise and goal setting. With older students I try to relate the importance of Math, Reading, Writing, and Science to the real world and why they’re important to know to achieve their career goals. I take the time to discuss goals for the future such as college. I like to get to know their interests to know them and develop respect. My wife and I live in Fair Oaks, CA, with two of our sons and our two dogs. I enjoy tennis and competitive bodybuilding. I have a high degree of energy and enthusiasm for setting and achieving goals. I would be honored to help any students be more prepared for any academic subject. Please contact me through this web site to schedule an appointment. Have a great day and I hope to talk to you soon.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught Mathematics as a substitute teacher and as a classroom teacher to students kindergarten through 8th grade since 1999. Enthusiasm, energy and patience helps me to relate to students and help them understand Math. As a person who once struggled at Math, patience is key. Praise and rewards are important in keeping students engaged in Math and to have fun while learning.
