University of California, Riverside (Sociology)
I am fluent in 4 languages (Russian, English, Turkish, Azeri), both spoken and written. A student aiming to become proficient in Russian, both in conversation and on paper, would benefit greatly from my mentorship. Here is a little about myself:
It all began when I taught myself to read Russian at the age of three. When I was 4 months shy of my 4th birthday, I began my private English lessons with a renowned yet retired Oxford, who at a time served as a political translator for the UK - USSR relations. As I intertwined both of the languages in my linguistic development as a child, I grew fascinated of literature. Most of my childhood memories bring me back to the immense private library of my grandfather. Around 4th grade, I began writing my own poetry. Writing in both Russian and English, I had my work published on several occasions through out my high school years.
Fast forward to now: I am about to graduate from UCR, with a Bachelors in Sociology. I am currently working on a bilingual magazine (Russian and English) as well as a theoretical blog. I have a wide range of translating and tutoring experience.
My in-depth studies of sociological concepts as well as my ability to theoretical conceptualization can benefit a student wishing to become better acquainted with the subject. My knowledge-base ranges anywhere from micro- to macro- conceptualization of the social structure.
Here is how you can benefit:
I will create a motivating, yet challenging environment to help you adapt your language communication and processing skills. I focus on assisting the students in developing language processing skills, which will aid in translating a thought into the desired language (Russian). I will also help with pronunciation in a very motivating manner.
I am also fluent Turkish and Azeri, both written and spoken, so I may be able to assist you with that as well.
I am very familiar with the TOEFL examination and can assist in preparation

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I was a co-director in my family's bilingual (Russian and English) grade-school tutoring program. I also tutored Russian in high school and during my undergraduate years. I assisted a visually impaired student in learning the language, with great success. I often assist my Advanced Russian professor at UCR with lesson formulation, grammar screening as well as assisting and motivating less fluent students.
