My name is James, but all my students call me Jim. I know how painful it is to fail and the deep and the abiding satisfaction that comes with academic success. My students never fail. My students always succeed because I know how learning really works and I can teach you. I can teach you how to succeed quickly, permanently, and in every academic subject.
I don't care what your past performance has been and I don't care what anyone else has told you. I know you can succeed. Furthermore, I know that you can succeed right away. Your aim is not to get by, your aim is not to merely survive school, your aim is to excel and to excel at every subject. I know you can do it. I have rescued students from the toughest situations you can imagine. My degree is in Experimental Psychology with a minor in Neuroscience from UC San Diego. I have impeccable credentials from the foremost learning researchers in the world (available on request) and testimonials from parents and students from elementary school through high school.
My techniques are based on Nobel Prize winning research. They are solid. They work every time and they will work for you. I especially enjoy working with students that are in jeopardy, students that everyone has given up on, students that feel like giving up on themselves.
The Universe has been around for about 15 billion years and in all that time it has created only one of you. You are special, there will never be anyone else like you, you deserve to live a worthwhile and productive life. It can start right now and I would be honored to help.
Personalized approach that is effective!
My wife and I wanted to find our four-year old child a tutor to help her begin reading as she was exhibiting an interest to do so. On the first session, Jim explained his approach to teaching and had our daughter writing words on the first day (she already knew her ABCs and could write each letter). After the second lesson, our child was writing sentences relating to her interests -- "Ladybugs can fly." I am impressed with Jim's approach and give him high recommendations based on our experiences.Andrew, 24 lessons with James
Gives student a lot of confidence
It's been only fourth lessons with Jim. My son hated math so much and it was so dificult to make him study. I cannot beleive how he is looking forward to see Jim every time and he has start to enjoy learning math and I see huge difference with his confidence already.Hande , 7 lessons with James
Jim has helped me do well in school with his research in Psychology and mastery of study skills. I randomly called this tutor on Wyzant, and he has been a great help for me.Joseph, 8 lessons with James
A good fit
I'm writing this review for my son. He is a junior in high school and has an IEP. In addition to needing much help and support for comprehension and processing issues, he struggles socially and has anxiety. Well, Jim was not only able to help him tackle the very difficult college prep biology course, but he also instilled a great deal of self-confidence boost and encouragement. My son grew to be quite comfortable and relaxed with Jim. They are both quirky guys in different ways and it worked for them! If you have a child that is "out of the box" so to speak, learning is challenging on many levels. I think its important to find someone that can connect with your kid and be open to trying a few sessions to see how they work together. I'm very grateful that we met Jim and he is a good man that my son came to depend on and looked forward to helping him go from failing quizzes/tests to getting a B on his final exam!Andreas, 31 lessons with James
Good Preliminary Review
We have just started with James, but early indications are very good. My son has some learning difficulties in the current school environment so we have a ways to go. We will have a more detailed review after a few weeks. Update: Dax seems to be enjoying his tutoring and applying himself more diligently to his biology study and projects. We recommend Jim for any student that is having trouble keeping up with a class.Stewart (son Dax), 10 lessons with James
Learning how to learn
Jim did a great job of helping our son learn how to learn. It refocused him on his study skills and gave him a new sense of understanding about why he should do what he needs to do to be an independent learner. Jim is supportive and positive.Evan, 5 lessons with James
He is a must for your student.
James has been a blessing to our daughter. He has rebuilt her confidence in her abilities while retraining her on how to study. He provides a foundation that will aide our daughter for life long success in learning and retaining information. Thank you so much James.Coral, 15 lessons with James
