How the links from DRAWING to ARCHITECTURE to ITALIAN to PHOTOSHOP and GRAPHIC DESIGN unite under the guidance of one individual: My Background Summary.
Having grown up in a family of creatives, it was observed quickly that I spent a lot of time hand drawing. This came in two forms, free imagination and home facades. As my tendency to draw houses developed, an interest in architecture was sparked which led to my attending university for the same. While attending architecture school, I enrolled in overseas programs to study in Italy. In order to prepare for such an experience, I studied Italian language prior to departure, and continued intensive language studies while abroad. Additionally, my family is Italian-American. During university, computer-aided visualization became a key tool for project presentations, which led to an advancement in the use of Photoshop. The software allowed for a new form of creative representation, sparking an interest in graphic design. A skill in teaching others developed during my years as Educator at the High School level, where I taught Engineering Design which was rooted in hand drawing.
All these fields are of interest to me, and my patient approach allows me to convey the fundamentals to those willing to learn. How the links from DRAWING to ARCHITECTURE to ITALIAN to PHOTOSHOP and GRAPHIC DESIGN unite under the
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Upon graduating, I was employed at two different architecture offices that worked on a variety of project types. I independently designed and had built a single family residence. More recently, I received a Master's in Real Estate Development through an architecture graduate program, Woodbury University. I am in the process of designing and planning small development projects.
I taught a course called Engineering Design for three years in the San Diego Unified School District. A fundamental starting point to the course was hand drawing, which dealt specifically with representing different views of the same object, including isometrics and perspectives. Being a design course, sketching design solutions was an imperative first-step to refining and communicating concepts. Additionally, while in undergraduate architecture school, I took numerous courses in freehand drawing techniques.
