If you select this option, WyzAnt will ask interested tutors to contact you by email if they are able to help. A maximum of five different tutors will email you and none of your personal information, including your email address, will be released.

My goal is to help students become independent problem-solvers.

Tralee is local to the Bay Area and she is patient, kind and understanding. She helped me in a crunch and I succeeded because of her help.

Tralee helped our 16 year old son prepare for the ACTs and figured out his strengths, weaknesses and helped him improve in his weak areas. She also had helpful advice about taking the test tailored specifically for him, and had great feedback to offer us. We'll be using her again!

Your son was a delight to work with!

Tralee is a great tutor. She has made a big difference in how I learn after not taking math for 25 years.

Tralee is a really great tutor if you have a lot of trouble in math. I worked with her this summer to refresh my algebraic skills and to prepare for my college algebra 2 course in the fall. She is very personable and finds a way to incorporate things you are interested in with the math problems you are learning how to solve. Tralee made me feel comfortable enough to tell her when something didn't make sense, which she would then stop and we would put focus on that area of difficulty. I have improved my math skills to the point where I no longer dread the idea of math. :)

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

The California testing for Algebra 1 is changing this year. MARS tests are being trialed in schools. I am familiar with these tests and the new common core standards.

Algebra 1 consists of symbolic reasoning and calculations with symbols. Through

the study of algebra, a student develops an understanding of the symbolic language

of mathematics and the sciences. In addition, algebraic skills and concepts are developed and used in a wide variety of problem-solving situations.

Topics covered include: single and two step equations, word problems, graphing, solving systems and introduction to geometry.

The California testing for Algebra 2 is changing this year. MARS tests are being trialed in schools. I am familiar with these tests as well as the new common core standards.

Topics in Algebra 2 include continuing to work with expressions, equations and inequalities, factoring, quadratic formula, and graphing. New topics include: complex numbers, logarithms, linear quadratic and exponential functions, solving rational equations, analyzing functions, and trigonometry.

You don't have to let the math portion of the CBEST interfere with your plans to enter the field of education. I have helped many adults pass the math portion of the test with only a few weeks of study. My students feel at ease with my gentle and supportive style, yet I don't skip over important concepts needed for the test. I have a bag of tricks to help you remember key concepts as well. It doesn't matter how long ago you took your last math class or your prior grades. We'll set up a study schedule that helps balance work and family with studying.

Geometry uses the tools of properties, theorems and proofs. Topics include congruence, similarity, right triangles, intro to trigonometry, circles, expressing geometry relationships through equations, and making constructions.

6th Grade Math

Sixth-grade math students will:

1. Develop an understanding of the concept of a ratio and use ratio reasoning to solve a variety of problems, including those involving unit pricing and constant speed.

2. Extend their understanding of operations with fractions to include division.

3. Compute fluently with multi-digit numbers and their understanding decimals.

4. Find the greatest common factor and least common multiples of certain of operations with whole numbers.

5. Explore negative rational numbers and integers.

6. Draw and label numbers on number lines.

7. Add and subtract negative numbers.

8. Graph pairs of points in a plane.

9. Learn to write expressions and equations with variable

10. Be introduced to area and perimeter and angles.

I teach my students in middle and high school good study skills, such as how to: manage time, create and use organization systems, discover one's unique learning style, how to read for understanding, take notes, use study tools and learn the secrets to taking tests while remaining calm.

As a teacher, I have over 10+ years reaching over 1,500 students. Every student has different needs, personalities and skills.

Trigonometry uses the ratios between triangle lengths. Each ratio has a unique name, sine, cosine, and tangent. Using these tools, you can find missing lengths and angles of other figures.

It also includes the concepts of functions, and different properties (identities) of each functions. This subject is very handy for craftsmen, such as woodworkers, etc.
