Cosumnes River College (Speech Pathology)
I have tutored 4th, 5th, 6th graders in basic math/reading when I was a senior in high school. I volunteered to read to students in kindergarten and help them with their basic writing/reading/math skills. I was a Sunday School teacher from 2010 - 2014 where I taught/worked with children between the ages of 4-10 in regards to learning the language Punjabi (my native language) as well as reading and writing. I have always been entrusted with the responsibility of babysitting and tutoring children. I love tutoring children because they have such creative minds and they are always open to learning new things everyday that will help them increase their knowledge for their future.
I have always been a good math tutor especially with basic elementary math. It is easier to teach to students who are either open to the subject or have a tough time understanding it.
When I would tutor children I would have them read a sentence or paragraph to me and I would mark or make little notes as to what needed improvement. The more improvements that were made the better the students did in the rest of their subjects.
I am kind and patient. I work well with children of all ages. I would put in all the effort I can to help any child succeed and strive for the best. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
