Bio

Hi, I'm Jeremiah. I received A's in Algebra, Geometry, Statistics, Physics, and Calculus as an undergraduate at Shasta College, where I tutored one-on-one, on my way to receiving an A.A. degree. I then transferred to the University of California, Berkeley, where I graduated with a B.A. in Music with highest distinction. Then I went on to receive a M.A. from UC Davis and a Ph.D. in Music from UC Davis. I have five years of teaching experience in the classroom. Over that time, I worked with...

Over that time, I worked with hundreds of students as a TA at UC Davis, and in the last year have taught many students at Las Positas College.

My style is easygoing and personable. I zero in on the one point that's giving you trouble, and think of creative strategies and ways to explain that make the point clear for you. I promise you'll leave with a well-earned feeling of confidence and mastery. I love explaning difficult math concepts in simple English, which helps you understand the subject matter and reduces your stress at the same time. At UC Davis, I held office hours every week where I met with students to discuss essay writing, listening skills, and study habits. I like tutoring very much because it gives the opportunity to work one on one with a student and explain ideas at the right pace for the specific student.

I scored in an extremely high percentile on the Math portion of the GRE exam. So, I want to benefit students that are needing math or statistics tutoring. While a student, I appreciated the professors that were solution-oriented, approachable, and went the extra mile to discuss any questions I had after class. I bring these qualities to my tutoring. The math subjects I specialize in are Algebra, Precalculus, Geometry, Calculus, and Statistics. The music subjects I tutor are Piano, Music History, and Music Theory.

I am an outstanding math tutor because I have a depth of knowledge and experience in different math topics ranging from high school math to college-level statistics and calculus. I love math and science, and still study

Oddly enough, the pandemic has made me be more resourceful in thinking of ways to tutor and teach music. I've played numerous solo piano recitals and performed concerto movements with the North State Symphony and Shasta Symphony. I won prizes at the San Francisco Young Pianists Competition and the North State Symphony Young Artists Auditions. At UC Davis, I taught Keyboard Competence for three quarters and was a TA for numerous other music classes, and now hold a Ph.D. in Music.
