Hello! Thanks so much for visiting my profile! Let me tell you a little about myself. I have had the immense pleasure of teaching in a general education classroom for several years. Throughout that time, I worked for one of the leading charter school organizations in California. I also had the opportunity to develop my teaching ability as well as to mentor other teachers. I had the privilege of having a leadership position with that organization and helped to found two of its Sacramento schools.
I am very passionate about teaching and providing students with the tools that they need to be successful; not only academics, but in life. I strive to share my passion with my students and to help them to see the wonders and the fun of learning. I also take lengths to build an atmosphere in which all of my students feel safe, comfortable, and ready to learn. I believe in a strong partnership between the teacher, parents, and students to promote the most successful learning experience possible. All students should be provided with an equal opportunity to learn, develop, and grow—-and I do all that I can to help them become successful members of society.
I have extensive experience working with a variety of skill levels and learning modalities. I am patient, kind, and perhaps most importantly, truly believe that YOUR CHILD CAN BE SUCCESSFUL! I hope to meet you soon and work towards helping your family reach your educational goals! Hello! Thanks so much for visiting my profile! Let me tell you a little about myself. I sought out Melody's help to prepare for college level written exams. I had been away from college courses for about 2 years and needed a refresher. She is very knowledgeable in English writing. She improved my writing skills to be more focused, clear, and cohesive. She also gave me strategies to prepare notes and study for exams. I feel that my writing skills have tremendously improved and I'm very grateful for Melody's help. Melody's lessons are organized to meet the individual's needs. She is punctual, reliable, and accessible. Melody is a wonderful educator. I would recommend her to anyone needing assistance in writing and preparing for exams.
Melody helped both of my daughters improve their writing skills. Writing was a weakness for both of them, but both were able to bring their grades up significantly. Not only is Melody effective, but she is positive and enthusiastic. I would highly recommend Melody to any parent looking to improve their child's academic success!

We are very pleased with the teaching skills and patience Melody demonstrated with our daughter. Her approach was a perfect fit and we appreciate how she was always prompt and prepared. Melody even talked with our daughter's teacher to ensure she had the background and was complementing her school work. Thanks Melody!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a fully credentialed teacher in K-6 education as well as 6-12th grade English instruction. I have several years of classroom teaching as well as tutoring experience in each of these areas.
Studying is one of the most important elements to one's education. Without studying, one might find oneself ill-prepared come test day. As a teacher, I have helped to prepare my students with tools to find success in class and on test day.
Here are some of the study skills techniques I teach my students: talking to the text, Cornell notes, flashcards, reading response journals, whiteboard practice, rereading excerpts, paraphrasing, summarizing, and games.
