About Jie

Hi, students, this is your teacher Jie. I am originally from China and recently got my master degree from MAT-TESOL program in USC. I have 4 years’ tutoring and teaching experience in pre-college preparation tests, including TOEFL and SAT.
So, if your goal is to ace these tests and get admitted to your dream school, it is my goal too and I am here to push, support and help. Moreover, if you are an International student from China, then, don’t hesitate to contact me immediately.

Back in China, I worked as a TOEFL writing teacher for about 2 years in Beijing New Oriental Education & Technology Group Inc. Later on, while getting my master degree in USC, I have been also working as a senior advisor in Beijing Aoji Education Group since Jan. 2014. Last year, I guided more than 20 students applying for different short-term and long-term studying programs in the U.S., including UCLA Extension’s Language center, Stanford Summer School, USC Language Center. Also, in application season, I helped students successfully get admitted by different undergraduate or transferring programs in different 4-year universities, including top-tier universities like CMU, USC, UC-Berkeley, University of Michigan and so on. All of my students consider me to be a reliable and trustworthy resource.

Here in U.S., two years’ professional training in MAT-TESOL program in USC not only helped me develop a systematical understating of various pedagogical theories in ESL education, but also provided me with different practical opportunities where I could practice my classroom management skills and specific teaching techniques in real ESL classroom scenarios. From my interns in East Los Angeles Occupational School and Roosevelt Community Adult School, I got more familiar with communicative language teaching methods and developed my curriculum design ability based on student-centered teaching ideology, which I considered as my biggest harvest from the program. So, don't worry! My class will never get you bored: you will enjoy your high-pressure learning and get your score as high as possible.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Chinese

I am a native Chinese speaker, originally from southwest China and I speak Mandarin. I received a Teaching Chinese as a Second Language Certificate from ICA and tutored several foreigners conversational and business Chinese in Beijing and Chengdu.

College Counseling

While getting my master degree at USC, I have been also working as a senior advisor in Beijing Aoji Education Group (one of the biggest intermediate agencies for studying abroad in China) since Jan. 2014. I have become much more familiar with the undergraduate admission process in American universities, and more importantly, found my passion in this field.

In Jan. 2014, I attended the College Admission 2025 Conference, hosted by USC Rossier School of Education. In this conference, insightful opinions of experts in college admission field really helped me clarify my working goal in the short future.
