I am a credentialed teacher at a local high school and frequently tutor students to deal with learning gaps such as those arising from Covid. I have designed many diagnostic quizzes to identify learning gaps and tutored students to resolve these gaps. The students that do the best are those that view their own knowledge as changeable and not as fixed. ("I don't know how to solve this kind of equation yet.") By being gentle and challenging, I seek to build this attitude in my students.
I primarily seek to use local libraries, but virtual lessons can be arranged too.
My math tutoring expertise comes primarily from dealing with students on a day to day basis. Additionally, I have worked with students in a series of other formats from assigned tutoring in high school to accelerated math programs (Math Counts).
My science qualifications center around my work experience (multiple patents in the area of polymers for high strength fibers) plus a general grad school experience.
