Bio

I first started tutoring in high school as part of our volunteer program. I assisted students with their math and physics homework.
After high school I was hired on as a program assistant at a BGCA-affiliated youth center and was primarily responsible for Power Hour, which was a 2 hour period of time directly after school that was intended to give the kids a place to do their homework and study in an environment that was tailored to help them focus and be comfortable.

After leaving the youth center I begin tutoring through Wyzant as I finished up community college, primarily tutoring within North San Diego County.
After finishing community college I transferred to Sacramento State University to finish my degree in Mechanical Engineering. While at university I worked at the Peer Academic Resource Center (PARC) as a tutor and a supplemental instructor. As a supplemental instructor my responsibilities included teaching a physics workshop class twice a week, acting as a liaison between the students and the professor, and holding various study sessions outside of the normally biweekly workshops.

Overall I think I have a solid grasp of mathematics and physics from the elementary school level up to college level calculus and physics. I have a very good understanding of how the material looks and feels from a struggling students perspective because I spent many years as that same struggling students. I believe that absolutely everyone can learn anything so long as they put in the work and most importantly have a desire to learn it. I take pride in what I do and it brings me great joy in helping students surpass what they previously thought they were capable of.

I have taken Calculus since my senior year of high school. I am currently enrolled in differential equations, and passed Calculus 1, 2, and 3 with grades of B or better. I also have taken 3 physics classes at the college sophomore level that are calculus based. I feel I have an extensive enough, and practical enough experience.

Amazing and patient tutor

Anthony helped my daughter better understand algebra. He was clear, knowledgeable, and encouraging. She started asking for her tutor with each new math section because she saw the clear benefit of his tutoring and started enjoyed her new understanding of math. This also helped prepare her for her SAT testing. Very grateful to Anthony who is a kind, smart, respectful, and personable tutor. He made a VERY big difference.
