About Esmeralda

I work with students of different ages; k-12, 0-5 and adult education,I believe every one learns. I love to help students challenge their cognitive level by learning how to manipulate information, how to take notes down, how to use Cornell notes, and read the books that are assigned to them on the topic as to prepare them to succeed. I use the answer question and review strategies.

I also teach writing, using the five elements of a perfect paragraph. I am a published author, and I teach creative writing. I have a B.S., allowing me to also tutor prealgebra I and II. I have an Adult Education credential in math and science.

I have passed the RICA, CBEST and the MSAT; multiple subjects. Yes, I also tutor for these exams.

I explain information step by step, until understood.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Study Skills

I am a mild to moderate teacher cognitive disabilities. I work with students that have learning difficulties this is my specialization. I help students understand multiple subjects. My current specialization is math, science, reading and writing. I help students develop cognitively by teaching them strategies an ways on how to recall and retain information. Some of these simple steps is to give less information and more examples have student explain what the end result is needed in a given problem; teaching to think critically. I use a lot of strategies such as teaching how to manage information in a chapter and put in a cheat-cheat form so that they can study when needed. I also conduct classes for the AVID program when needed as to teaching students to work in groups when solving and researching information.
