I worked for a tutoring site for a year as head tutor, working with students from kindergarten to high school, and as private tutor. I have a bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis on English literature. My major and work field has trained me to engage students to pursue or discover their best study methods in order to succeed (since we all learn and take in information in a different way). I am committed to teaching and education, and strongly believe that everyone can learn to the best of their abilities. Vivien is an excellent tutor! My son has needed support in High School Spanish this year. Vivien is very accommodating as far as scheduling times, is incredibly patient, and makes my son work for his understanding of this subject. I would highly recommend her.
We couldn't be happier with Vivien. She was very responsive to our first inquiry. Showed up on time and is currently trying to teach us Spanish. She came prepared with a great worksheet and educational tools on her iPad. We highly recommend her!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have worked with Speicial Education Elementry school students that have been diagnosed with different learning and attention defetiencies, as ADHD/DHD as a one-on-one and paraprofessional (both in a special day class and general Ed). I am aware that these students work better in structure settings, with specific goals, reward system, and that they all have different skills. I currently work with 3 students who have been diagnosed with ADHD and are taking medication.
I have worked with Special Education Elementary school students that have been diagnosed with mild Autism as a one-on-one and paraprofessional (both in a special day class and push in support in a general Ed setting). I currently hold a BA in Liberal Studies with emphasis in English Literature. I have tutored students of k-12 grade in individual classes, and as a head tutor for an afterschool program I learned that everyone learns and takes in information in different ways.
