Hi, my name is Andrea. I have been working with kids in all capacities for more than 10 years now. I have always had a natural way with kids so I pursued my BA in liberal studies so I could be on the road to getting my credential in teaching. That day came in August, 2015. I was so elated, but then realized that actually finding a long time career in teaching is not that easy in southern orange county. I have continued to work with school-age children as a before and after school program director for the last seven years. During those years I really loved helping my student with their homework. Sometimes, homework can be very difficult to do if you were not paying attention in class, or don't have anyone to help you when you have questions. This made me think of wanting to tutor students who were having the same difficulties.
Currently, I am working at a charter school, and I can see the need of extra assistance when it comes to learning new concepts especially in math and language arts. Some things that I like to do is, really get to know the students interests. After having discussions with a student I can gauge what kind of learning style would best benefit them and I use that information when we tackle the academic concepts that they are struggling with in addition to their interests to make it fun.
I know that times have changed because of the common core standards. Because, I am in a school setting where I help out with homework, volunteer my time to teachers (especially during math lessons), and substitute when needed I know that I will be able to help your student conquer the concepts being taught in common core math.
I love everything about science and it rarely changes. I have my B.A. in liberal studies with an emphasis in science. My love of science will make learning fun and exciting.
I have a fairly flexible schedule, but I would need to plan ahead of time to meet and discuss what your needs would be. I am very good replying to emails, and I will be honest and upfront with you. Because I do have other work responsibilities and two kids at home, I will need at least 24 hours cancellation notice please. Hi, my name is Andrea. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified to teach kinder - 6th, because I have recently acquired my multiple subject teaching credential in August, 2015. Currently I am working at a school as a substitute when needed and I am putting those credentials to use. Next fall, I will be teaching in my own classroom at a school in the Capistrano Unified School District.
I have received my multiple subject credential from National University, in August, 2015. In that year I have been working with students in a school setting in the Capistrano Unified school district. I work with the kids in aftercare and I substitute in classes as needed. One of the subjects that students must be taught is handwriting. I have taught handwriting in a first and second grade class, and I have worked with kids on their homework, in relation to handwriting, in the aftercare classes.
