I'm James. I am currently a freshman at Santa Monica. Ever since sophomore year, I have been infatuated with tutoring. I'm James. I am currently a freshman at Santa Monica. Ever since sophomore year, I have been infatuated with tutoring. Although it was not my dream job, it was a way for me to connect with people and tutor people who need it. When I volunteered to tutor, I realized the necessity of a good teacher. Especially in the peer tutoring program, students from the same teacher would appear for help on multiple assignments and the actual lesson. As someone who excels in textbook learning, I realize the importance of a good teacher well versed in multiple modes of learning: auditory, visual, and kinesthetic (hands-on learning). As such, I have aimed to teach using visuals, stories, and examples which is much better than a formula or a string of long words.
In terms of education, I am going to college this fall. However, I have a 3.77 unweighted GPA and rank 52 of 578. I have 50+ hours of tutoring recorded on my official records. I am a tutor in the AP Calculus BC Club and peer tutoring program, where I have experience teaching and assisting in a range of different math and science subjects from Algebra 1 to AP Physics C. I also have a year of experience as a tutor in the Algebra 1 support class. In the Algebra 1 support class, I tutor a small group of 3-4 kids struggling in math, and I take as much time as possible to help them improve their number sense and the fundamentals of math. Although there is a limited amount of time, I always check for understanding and encourage students to understand math instead of memorizing it.
Outside tutoring, I love Computer-Aided Design. I am a Robotics business leader and the Computer-Aided Design club president, so I use Computer-Aided Design often.
I can tutor Algebra 1, Algebra 2, AP Calculus AB(Calculus 1), AP Calculus BC(Calculus 2), and AP Chemistry.
AP Calculus BC Score: 5
AP Chemistry Score: 5
SAT Math: 750
I am available easy to reach, and I have a flexible schedule. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

Patient and understanding. Knowledgable.
The only thing that go against James is his youthful looks and age. I have tried many tutors, some have been retired with decades of experience as an educator, some have excellent and impressive credentials, but I learned that it is not an insurance that you will get the best tutor for your needs. My son has high functioning autism and have symptoms of ADHD. He is in eleventh grade and taking calculus BC and AP Physics but suddenly struggled in the third quarter. The effects of online schooling is getting on him. I did inform James beforehand and gladly accommodated my son is in IEP. James is very patient which is exactly what my son needs. He quickly get comfortable with James. My son was overwhelmed and in a panic mode, but with James help, he was able to go back to his comfort zone and salvaged his grades from complete disaster.Nelson, 16 lessons with James

Knowledgeable, well prepared and puts students at ease
James is tutoring my daughter with calculus. She had never gone to a tutor before and did not know how to start. She had provided some topics before hand that she needed help with and James started with those. He was well prepared for the lesson and was able to explain formulas and theories that really seemed to help my daughter. My daughter is looking forward to more sessions with James!Cris, 8 lessons with James
