Pepperdine University Graduate School of Education and Psychology (Master's)
I am a graduate of UCLA, with a background in Education and Music. Most recently, I have finished earning my Master's Degree with a Teaching Credential at Pepperdine University, in West LA and am now teaching 2nd grade. This past year I student taught in 4th grade, though my previous experience was in a second grade classroom. I love teaching all ages, and have even worked at Animo Leadership in Inglewood to help students find and apply for scholarships, and internships in addition to helping those in their last year of high school go through the college process.
I take my work very seriously and will put in as much time in making sure that every single student is reached and engaged in the material. I have graduated with my Master's and a Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential with CLAD, as well as a Single Subject Teaching Authorization in English. Hello there!

Per each student. If doing group tutoring, rate is negotiable.
I’m so glad we found Maya. She is helping my daughter with 7th grade math. My daughter just loves her and even asked if we could have longer sessions! Maya is extremely caring, patient, and positive. She can break down tough subject matter to make it understandable. I highly recommend her.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
In my work at Pepperdine University I spent a year as an Urban Fellow, helping students in under served communities with career development aid. I helped them create and design their own resumes, and edited resumes to reflect their skills and helped with interview preparation as well as other skills related to seeking and obtaining a job.
As part of being an Urban Fellow, I helped those who were trying to attend a higher education institution see their options, in addition to career development and helped these students in low socio-economic status communities to see college as an attainable goal, and helped them create their personal essays, editing and proofreading along the way. I was notified by one of the students who graduated from that year that a record number of 42 students got into my alma mater school, UCLA. Although only 2 attended, knowing that I helped these students get there proved to me that these students were just as able to attend universities as others just as long as they had the help.
I have a Multiple Subject Credential with a CLAD, and have passed both the CSET and CBEST as part of my Graduate School requirement. In addition, I am currently a 2nd grade teacher at a private elementary school.
I have passed CBEST and CSETS to become a Multiple Subject Teacher and am credentialed with a CLAD. I have worked in a school that is a part of LAUSD and at a school that is a part of Inglewood Unified and have worked with both curriculum to teach phonics and phonemic awareness.
I am a credentialed elementary school teacher with 4 years experience in early elementary and a year of experience working with high school students in writing.
I am an experienced Caretaker who has had experience tutoring and helping tutees organize and stay on a schedule for studying while maintaining time to for other activities. I also am educated in various strategies as taught to me through my undergraduate coursework, and through my work at Pepperdine for the Multiple Subject with CLAD.
