First of all, let me tell you a bit about myself. I have worked in education for over 20 years. I have tutored, been a substitute teacher for multiple school districts, and have also worked as a school secretary. One of the most interesting jobs I ever held was that of an office manager for a Pasadena law firm. I held that job for several years before the owner of the firm retired. I enjoyed my time there, but I always tutored or taught as a second job during that time.
I have a great deal of experience teaching students of all ages and abilities. I have earned a Master's in Human Development from Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena, which has aided me greatly in understanding student behaviors and learning styles. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
