Using my background as a behavioral therapist, I specialize in helping students with disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

I have over 15 years of teaching experience, and my favorite aspect of teaching is empowering students. Having earned my PhD in chemistry, I have a particular love for teaching math and science and overcoming students' conception that these subjects are "too hard."

I love teaching at the elementary/middle school level because I'm able to build kids' confidence at a foundational stage in their lives. My approach is to keep learning relaxed and fun and to show kids their own talent.

When teaching chemistry to high school and college students, I pull from the experience I gained as a Senior Research Scientist at an environmental technology company. I have a detailed knowledge of both the academic and real-world applications of chemistry, and I love showing students how a knowledge of chemistry benefits everyone regardless of the career they pursue.

Everyone who learns must overcome obstacles, and those obstacles are unique to every individual. I take the time to understand the challenges faced by every one of my students, and I work to make sure that each student achieves their goals.

Knowledgeable and pateint

I felt a weight lifted just from the 1st session. My son really liked Katherine and was very comfortable with her. We signed on 2 days a week. My son has an ADHD diagnosis and is having focus issues at school. Math has become a nightmare for us at home. From our first conversation with Katherine she made me feel like we were not alone and she was very knowledgeable and understanding with our issue.
