UCSD (Studio Arts)
I graduated from UCSD in 2004 with a B.A. in Studio Arts. I have worked with various arts with an emphasis in conceptual art in multimedia. Because of our rigorous program, I also strengthened my writing skills, and editing, which I continue to use today. I have continued to study the arts and music as I've progressed my skills and completed work throughout the years. Most recently also taking a refresher in American Government, and Bible College. In 2006 I received a Montessori certification and worked with preschool age children for 6 years. The emphasis was teaching Language and math up to Kindergarden age. I also worked in the Public Schools in Vista California for one year, with elementary school children, helping them with reading and writing, especially with bilingual children. Furthermore, I have experience working as a Teacher's Assistant in an alternative high school.
Because of my upbringing with the Spanish language, I am very familiar and comfortable with Spanish speakers, and bilingual students. I also studied Spanish in high school and college to advance my conversational, grammar, reading, and written skills in Spanish. This was further strengthened by immersion in Mexico upon visits with family, and travels. I have personally tutored a high school student in Spanish. And I have tutored another in Algebra. I have also edited my own husbands college papers. I also have experience helping my niece and nephew with elementary school homework. Please contact me with your area of need, and I will do my best to provide the tutoring you require. Thank you. I graduated from UCSD in 2004 with a B.A. in Studio Arts. Alexandra tutored me for my TOEFL exam. She tried to help me to improve my speaking and do her best, but I am looking for someone who is more specified and familiar with TOEFL questions.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught in 2 Christian and 1 Catholic Preschool. I have developed my own in depth curriculum through the Old Testament with art and activities, as well as life application. I have taken more than half of the requirements for an additional degree in Biblical Studies through Calvary Chapel Bible College, which includes studies through the Bible under Pastor Chuck Smith. And I have taught preschool, kindergarden, and elementary children in Children's Ministry/ Sunday School for several years.
