Hi, my name is Mr. K. and I tutor students in many fields of study. I studied Business (organizational management) and English Literature in my undergrad years. I have diverse interests and am active in Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society. My interests while in school led me to letter in 6 sports, be involved in school plays and productions and student government. I feel this has enabled me to develop methods that are adaptable to the individual student in my care and make the connection to the school work even stronger.
I am currently attending Taft Law School online which enables me to have a flexible schedule while attaining my goals. I feel that this helps me even more in strengthening my tutoring skills as I am constantly using fact finding, research and application of critical thinking in my own schooling. This enables me to see things from the students perspective as well as an educator's. I look forward to helping students enhance their futures and reach their goals as well. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I played competitive baseball from 7 years old up through college. I was captain of every team I played on and often helped in the instruction of teammates. I have helped coach my nephew's t-ball and baseball teams and I still follow the sport both as a fan and with a player's eye.
I played competitive basketball from 5th grade through high school. I attended many camps that taught everything from the fundamentals of the game to complex defensive strategies and motion offenses. I consider myself a student of the game and still play regularly at my gym. My passion for the sport and patience with others help to make me an excellent teacher of the game.
I am a self-taught guitar player who has been playing for 20+ years. I am left-handed and originally taught myself on a right handed guitar with the strings upside down and then restrung the guitar so I can now play both ways which helps in tutoring both left and right handed players. I gave lessons for about 2 years to 3 students in the past and look forward to helping more people learn to play. I practice every other day and can teach beginners to intermediate level musicians.
