About Daniel

Much of my tutoring experience has been through helping friends and and friends of my family over the course of the past few years. When in college I would also help out and tutor classmates and friends who needed the help in their course studies as well.

When I was in High School I tutored friends and family for the subject area of Geometry. After the course of several sessions the grades of the persons I was tutoring raised from a F to a B. To me this was a great accomplishment. When in college I would help friends and fellow classmates in their algebra and calculus classes. These meetings where I would meet and tutor students for geometry, algebra, and calculus was not formal and in the library. None the less, I heard from each of them later that they did well in their classes.

For almost a year I have been employed by and tutoring at a learning center where I have been able to meet and help many students do better with their studies. At the learning center I have met with and tutored students covering the subjects of: algebra, algebra II, pre-calculus, and physics. Students who come in with these subject areas come in with their homework.

When helping a student with their course work I do like to be sure a student has their textbooks and notes. Examples from the textbooks are great to walk through. With all this experience over the past few years I have learned different teaching methods about what works for some students and what does not work for others. As I currently aim to get into a program so I can earn a teaching credential, I look forward to meeting more students and improving myself even more. Overall I enjoy sharing knowledge and helping students raise their grades the most. Success for the students is my ultimate goal.

Mathematics comes naturally to me, so even the higher subject such as Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Algebra. When in Middle School I was taking honors classes for Algebra, and when in High School I excelled in Geometry at Corona High School. Consequentially, I was able to join a class of students who went straight into Pre-Calculus our Sophomore year, AP Calculus I our Junior year and AP Calculus II our Senior Year. I scored a 5/5 on both AP Calculus I and II tests.

I studied Physics in both Junior and Senior years of High School. In addition I have attained by Bachelors of Science for Physics. I have only encountered a couple of students who have studied this subject, so I do not have as much professional experience tutoring Physics as I would like. But, I still enjoy this subject. My GPA graduating high school was a 4.0 and my GPA graduating college was 3.3; both are GPA's I am very proud of. I love both of these subjects and hope to share my knowledge with students about these subjects very soon.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

Algebra 1 is needed as a basic building block for all upper level mathematics that I have taken, so I have been working with Algebra 1 for several years.

Algebra 2

For the past year at a Learning Center more than several students have been bringing Algebra 2 to me to help them with their homework. In High School I skipped Algebra 2 to get to higher level mathematics classes.

Calculus

When in High School I was in two Advanced Placement courses (AP) for Calculus, namely, Calculus AB and Calculus BC. The scores I ended up with on each AP test was 5 for each. I know Calculus well.

Physics

Physics is the second subject in college I majored in. I know Newtonian physics and kinematics very well.

Precalculus

For the past six months I have been tutoring a student who has been bringing in PreCalculus. She tells me she has been doing well in the course when she brings it in to me, in case there is something she did not understand on her own.
