Your child can succeed in Math! I can help improve grades and build confidence. I have a one-on-one approach focusing on individual needs or your child. Whether your child has learning gaps, faces academic challenges, or just wants to improve their math skills, I can make a difference.
Teaching is definitely a passion of mine and I have made it a huge part of my life. I have tutored for over 10 years and have been a full time teacher for 5 years. I was a high school math teacher in the William S. Hart Union High School District and now work as a middle school teacher in the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District.
Teaching in a classroom setting is a wonderful experience but I especially enjoy the one on one instruction and tutoring that goes along with the success of students. Breaking down concepts for students that struggle with math and seeing the moment that it finally clicks is the most rewarding feeling. That is truly the reason why I have dedicated so much of my life to teaching and tutoring. All to see students succeed.
The tutoring I provide consists of:
Strengthening basic skills
Building a solid math foundation
Preparing for future lessons

Our experience with Karen has been wonderful. My son is responding and I've seen ambition in him that I haven't seen in a long time. We have a long way to go but the first steps are promising. Looking forward to continued success. Thank you Karen.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught Algebra 1 for five years in the high school and middle school setting. I have also been tutoring Algebra 1 and higher math for 10+ years. I aim to keep up with new teaching methods and I am comfortable with the new Common Core curriculum.
