My name is Susan and I am a graduate from a UC (University of California) with a bachelor of science in biology. Although the sciences are what I love to study, I've actually tutored more students for math (of various levels) as well as critiquing/showing students how to write and edit an essay (typically college level research papers).
I have tutored since my high school days for both group and individual lessons. Most of the students I have taught were in middle school or high school at the time, though I do have experience with elementary students.
Over the years I have found that each student has his/her own way of comprehending the material. Each student I've taught has been able to overcome their fear of a particular area of weakness, and move onto more complex problems. With concentration and a bit of perseverance put into it, any subject can be learned.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Hello!

Ask if there are questions on Group lessons and specific subjects rates (ex. each MCAT subject:35). Distance cost will be factored in if student lives more than 15 miles away.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Once you understand how to use the equations, it's not that hard and you'll be able to solve any problem!
A good understanding of the basics are needed in order to do higher and more complex math problems in the future.
I have recently taken the MCAT and scored an overall 34 on the exam. On my practice tests, I have ranged between 34-38. I'm willing to tutor in specific MCAT subjects of physics, chemistry, and biology. Organic chemistry and the verbal section can be included depending on requests.

Study skills are emphasized in every beginning session(s) with a new student whom I tutor. Some students need help with note taking basics in which case I show them different note taking systems (outline, cornell, mapping, charting methods). I also suggest managing study times outside of tutoring, finding their best learning style (visual, auditory, tactile), and show them a few memory techniques (rhyming, mind map, etc.).
