Here’s a little background of myself and my experience in teaching: I have been playing the violin for over 15 years and I’ve been singing basically all my life but didn’t start taking lessons until I was about 7 years old. Throughout my experience in working with various instructors, I have discovered the do’s and the dont’s from their teachings and I have developed a unique method that has helped dozens of my students. I am currently in a professional Mexican mariachi band and I perform every weekend (Lead singer and violinist). As a matter in fact, the band has been around for over 25 years and we are all booked up until next year! Since mariachi music has been a passion of mine since I was young, my family and I have formed and taught various mariachi bands throughout the bay area. If mariachi music is something you’re not interested in, don’t worry! I teach standard music theory that can be incorporated in various genres of music (emphasis in classical music when teaching).

I am a fluent and native Spanish speaker. I am also 100% fluent in English which is extremely helpful when it comes to explaining the material to students. I’m also experienced in taking high school and college leveled Spanish courses which has given me an insight of the schools requirements. I motivate my students to try to incorporate what they have learned into their daily lives in order to learn quicker. I work on their reading comprehension, spelling/writing, grammar and pronunciation. This is perfect for families that would like to have their child grow up being bilingual (long-term) or even improve their grades in Spanish class (short-term).

I’ve been a violin and vocal instructor for 5+ years for children ages 7-15. I teach my violin students how to read notes, work on their posture and technique in a fun and effective way. As for vocal students, I came up with unique vocal exercises to help improve their range, breath control, use of their diaphragm, and intonation. I attended the East Bay Center for the performing arts for many years advancing in piano, vocal, and violin techniques. I was also first chair (leader) of the violin section in a chamber ensemble at the East Bay Center every summer. I am more than qualified to teach beginners and help them develop a passion for music!

If your child is motivated to learn Spanish, Violin, or singing please contact me! I am new to Wyzant's platform and I am trying to work with more students in the Concord/Pittsburg/Walnut Creek/Lafayette/Martinez area (if your location is not listed here please contact me to find out if I can travel to your city).

I have been playing the violin for more than 15 years. I am advanced in reading music notes and music theory in general. I have experience teaching classical violin music using the Suzuki method and I also teach traditional mariachi music upon request. Music theory (Rhythm & note reading), ear training, technique, and posture are just some of the things I have years of experience in and your child will be working on these skill sets during their lesson.
Voice (Music)

Voice (Music)

I am the lead singer of a professional mariachi band and I’ve also had years of experience singing Opera at the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts. I also have a passion for Broadway and could also help with acting while singing. I have developed various unique techniques for breath control, intonation, ear training, use of diaphragm, just to list a few.
