I am a credentialed teacher. I offer individualized tutoring at your home or mine in the Concord or Walnut Creek area. I can help children and adults with English, Language Arts, Reading and Writing. I personalize instruction based on the student's interests and learning styles. I used to be a first grade teacher, and have raised 2 kids of my own. I enjoy helping parents learn how to best help their children, and offer strategies to get the whole family involved. I am especially looking for adults and home schooled students in the week-day hours.

Terese is a great tutor. She is very patient and professional to teach English as a second language.
My wife was not able to speak English, and now I see a lot of improvement in a short time.
She is a nice person and my wife likes her.
I would recommend Terese to everyone.
Given the fact that the student didn't have the material she was supposed to bring from school, Terese did make the best of the situation. A very good start.
Terese is a really nice person and she is helping me to study for my TOEFL test.
She is patient and she gave me good suggestions to study.
She has worked with our son, improving his writing skills. She makes it fun and gets the most out of him each lesson. Terese is thorough and well organised. She does a great job using numerous creative techniques to keep students interested.
Terese is always on time and gives very well prepared lessons in a creative way. Terese is a great tutor.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a multiple subject credential and CLAD certificate. After starting with my own first grade class for 7 years, I later did intervention work, substituting, and private tutoring with both elementary age and adults over the past decade.
I am credentialed to teach multiple subjects, and certified to teach ESL.
I have passed all three exams for CTEL: CA teachers of English learners, which qualified me for the CLAD certificate: Cross Cultural Language Acquisition and Development. I have taught ESL privately for both children and adults.
I am a credentialed teacher with experience either teaching or tutoring from Kindergarten to adults. Early in my career, I taught many young students how to print, and later when I subbed in all elementary grades, handwriting was included. I always use white boards with colorful markers and erasers for all ages that I currently tutor, so that the writing process is fun and pressure-free. I have access to many online resources and workbooks for this subject.
I have a multiple subject teaching credential and CLAD certificate. I taught first grade, intervention, and private tutoring, mostly in Language Arts and ESL.
I have passed the proofreading test in my subject list, as well as English, Grammar, Phonics, Reading, Spelling, Vocabulary and Writing.
I am a credentialed teacher of 30 years, and also have a CLAD certificate which qualifies me to teach all areas of ESL, including working on speech to reduce accents. I obtained this by passing all 3 of the CTEL exams, which stand for California Teacher of English Learners. I work with all ages and all areas of language arts, with a more recent emphasis on privately tutoring ESL. I adapt my instruction for speech according to the learning style and interest of each student. I use recordings and repeating methods for my students to practice saying aloud what they hear or reading along with what I record for them. They set the pace and progression according to their goals.
