UC Davis (Chicano Studies)
I have informal and formal experience tutoring young adults and children. For a year I taught young children how to read and tutored them in language arts, particularly in English and Spanish. I am extremely patient with students and have tutored since I was in elementary school. I even taught my younger brother how to read, before he started school. I am also a writer and am passionate about creative writing. I love to help students succeed.
I studied at U.C. Davis and majored in Chicano/a Studies, also known as Mexican American Studies. Through my experience at Davis, I learned medical Spanish and interpreted for Spanish speaking patients. I also studied Classical Spanish from Spain and literary works from Latin America.
Since I was a child I was a fast reader and loved to read. I also have a high score on the GRE literary section. I have also taught children how to read.
Currently my schedule is pretty open. I'm not available on weekends but currently have availability after 5pm during the week. I will update this as my schedule may change. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
