I have 17 years of experience working for the Chula Vista Elementary School District, the past 10 years as a teacher for grades k-6. My passion for children's education began in college as a camp counselor and intercession events coordinator.
I graduated from SDSU with a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences with emphasis in education. Shawna does weekly lessons for my kids and they love her. She incorporates different teaching strategies to make the learning process fun and engaging.
Last time she taught about Eclipce.
It was very helpful for writing essay in school. And she taught gramma, vocabulary, reading. But I want to give her more homework. Thanks.
Shawna arrived on time and had all the material ready. She was patient with my son and connected with him right away. He was a little hesitant about tutoring at first but after this visit has agreed that it adds value and wants to do it again. If you have a child that is struggling in school or just needs to reinforce what's been learned I recommend you set up a lesson with Shawna!

Shawna is a great tutor! She was able to help my boys with their homework lessons and clearly explain to them how to solve their math problems. My boys were not too happy to get a tutor at first but after Shawna left they were smiling and explaining to me how to solve their homework problems. They even thanked me for having Shawna tutor them. We signed up for weekly lessons to keep them on track. I'm looking forward to watching them progress and become more confident in math.
He was excited to keep learning under the supervision of Ms. Shawna. He is excited to keep taking classes with her and I am very grateful we found her. She is professional and truly cares for the student's advancement.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I went to college to be a teacher and in preparation for my student teaching I needed to pass the CBest. My college education prepared me for this and I passed with confidence in this subject matter. I therefore feel that I can tutor others for this test as well.
