Hello, my name is Michael and I am currently completing my first year as a graduate student studying philosophy.

When I first began tutoring here on Wyzant, I was a student at a local community college looking for alternative ways to study for my logic course. I signed up as a tutor and immediately began working with a student in another state who needed help with their logic course. The only problem was that their professor taught from a different textbook and used an entirely different system of logic than the one I had learned!

Rather than backing out and leaving my fellow student helpless, I paused the session and told the student to give me an hour to learn the material. When we returned, I was able to provide a new approach to solving logical proofs that was helpful to both of us.

When I agree to help you with your studies, I am agreeing to helping you earn a good grade on whatever assignment you need help with, or even for your class if we work together often enough.

My favorite subjects are Ancient (Eastern and Western) Philosophies and Religions (i.e., Buddhism, Confucianism, Hinduism, Jainism, Pyrrhonism, Cyrenaicism , Cynicism, Stoicism), and some of the more contemporary schools (like Existentialism, Utilitarianism, etc.), as well as the historical contexts behind those movements.

Other subjects include: Astronomy, English, European History, Grammar, Government, Literature, Statistics, and others.

Additionally, I'd be happy to negotiate/modify my rate upon request, I know we've had a very difficult year and a half so please feel free to message me with any questions you may have.

I have recently completed the Honors corps. courses including Honors English 101, and English 205 which was a critical thinking and comprehensive analysis course which required four essays of our own devising. I will gladly provide a sample of these writings or any of my other original papers with topics such as: an analysis of the works of Percy Shelley; a contextual perspective of the significance of the philosophical works of Søren Kierkegaard; a comparative analysis of the contrast between Friederich Nietzsche and Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha; a deconstruction and reassociation of the necessity of myth in life; and many others.

Philosophy,

Philosophy

I am currently enrolled in a PhD program for philosophy and have been exposed to much of the material covered in your standard undergraduate courses. I'm interested in most areas of philosophy but I am especially interested in the works of the ancient philosophers. I am more than happy to help with papers and assignments on big names, schools and movements from the history of philosophy, i.e., Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Stoicism, Epicureanism, Skepticism, Cynicism, and the philosophy of Christianity as presented by Theologians like Augustine and Aquinas, later names like Locke, Kant, Mill, Nietzsche and more recent authors as well. I'm also familiar with some of the Eastern philosophies/religions, such as Hinduism Confucianism, Buddhism, and Jainism.
Religion,

Religion

I have taken many courses covering a large spectrum of religions and the cultures in which they can be found, including World Religions, Cultural anthropology, Peace Studies, World History, Metaphysics (philosophy) and several other humanities courses. Additionally, outside of school/educational required learning, I have a great interest in the whole spectrum of religious/spiritual practice, texts, belief and am always interested in learning more.
World History,

World History

I consider history as one of my strongest areas. Having been personally interested in the subject, I began looking beyond the classroom to research the historical areas I consider fascinating while still in elementary school and have taken many courses in College covering the history of the World as well as the more specific histories of particular places of the world.
